Yes, I grieved for that particular concept during the divorce process. But it is the fantasy family I lost. The reality of living with my X is nothing like the happy, well adjusted, loving, intact family my sister and some of my friends have. I mostly miss it for my kids as my son just last week mentioned how he thinks about how it would be easier to not have all this back and forth and to have to deal with PsychoBoy's GF. He mostly remembers the good times when we were all together. Then we have those days like yesterday and he is reminded of the reality of what life was like and witnessing his dad acting like a nut towards me and S19.
So it is better this way. At least I can give my kids a peaceful existence at my home most of the time.

Sorry you are feeling down and yes, I a sure a lot of us can relate to those feelings - I know I can! I try to remind myself how happy my ex and I must have looked at school functions and family functions when inside I was dying and feeling the relationship was a sham. Just remember that what you see on the outside that you might be envious of might actually be worse that being a strong independent single mom. We are lucky ladies to have new possibilities for happiness all around us and kids who love us and make us feel wonderful!

This is a really tough time of year with graduations and milestones that involve families!

I know what you mean! Wholeheartedly. Even tho I'm enjoying dating, I still most definitely have moments of really missing my whole family unit. DS's school family things are hardest when I see the other families all intact (yup, in the kindergarten class, of 11 kids, I'm the only single mom. lol) so that really sucks. (((HUGS))) You are not alone.
