Does your man know how to dress?

I remember my ex had the biggest problem matching things up and putting together an outfit that looked good. I always had to go shopping with him or just go alone to buy his clothes. I knew his sizes and the general style he liked, so I always hit a home run. He'd love my choices and look great when I dressed him, but it got annoying dressing a grown man. I remember he'd get up for work early and I wouldn't see him til he got home. I'd be horrified sometimes at what I saw. Black shoes, brown belt and khakis with a tan or brown shirt. Come on! All tan or brown including the belt, which is fine, but BLACK SHOES with it? He had brown shoes.

Shane is a breath of fresh air. He can DRESS! He actually enjoys shopping (now I know this scares most girls because he sounds gay, but believe me, he's NOT!) He buys brown and black shoes, matching belts and nice slacks and button up shirts for work. Very tasteful "power ties", and even is nice enough to wear a white tee underneath. He wears cologne too and not the cheap stuff. His socks aren't that great, but they are under his pants and a desk, so I'm not sweating that. Now he has his days. He wears some butt ugly Old Navy olive green cargo shorts that are getting old and some holes are forming. He also has some t-shirts that have seen better days. Silly "man" t-shirts with crude sayings on them. But he's at least allowed those to be worn strictly in the house and he changes to go out. He also has a pair of leather sandals that I insist stay outside. Hey, leather absorbs sweaty feet and it's nasty!

Other than the Old Navy shorts and the silly tees, oh and the sandals, it's all good. And to see that man in a pair of Wranglers and boots is....okay, Mama's getting hot!

Later! Gotta call my man!

I don't dress for a man on a day to day basis. I used to try to do that but it never feels right.

I wear skirts and dresses almost exclusively in warm (50 degrees and up) weather. I don't like pants, except in winter when it's too darned cold for bare legs. Then I wear velour.

I like lots of asian style things, or polynesian prints. I LOVE sandals (I hate my feet being closed in) and in winter I wear boots and cushy socks.

I don't wear nasty sweats, I even mow the lawn in a skirt. I have two loose khaki shirts with lots of pockets and some twill pants that I wear for Archaeological digs. I HATE jeans, they've never fit me right and I won't wear something that stiff.

NOw, to what men think of it. If they like it fine, if not...I'm still going to wear what makes me comfortable.

Some men love it, some don't. Trav loves it.

"But, I'd like to be more noticable for his sake, I think. Does that make sense?" It's been my experience that men like it when other men notice the woman on their arm. Although...I have a cousin who always has a very beautiful woman on his arm, but he doesn't like for other men to check her out. Like we were shopping for a dress and he commented that she looked too hot to go out in public, she should only get that to wear for him.

I dress for myself...when I shop I do keep in mind that my SO likes sparkly clothes, and doesnt' like asymetrical patterns, but ultimately the choice is made by does it make me look good, does it fit and is the price right?

I admit to not dressing up for him...because he doesn't dress for me...I don't know how many times he's shown up in his oldest jeans and tennis shoes...his rational being that he can be comfortable with me...so while he likes heels and stuff, I won't put them on for him unless I want to wear them. It's retaliatory. (I know, I know.)

That's a good question! And let me start out by saying that I'm vain, vain, vain.

My question is, how do women dress for their men?

I dress up 5 days a week for work. Suits, normally, or professional separates. I'm starting to wear more and more skirts. I've got great calves, I want to show them off. I always wear nylons (even in the summer when it's 110 outside - because it's SOOOOO cold in my office!) and nice shoes. My dh compliments my appearance as I leave for work a few times a week.

On the weekends, if we are going out, he dresses me. Seriously. He's got GREAT taste in clothes, knows what HE likes, knows what I like, and he shops with me the majority of the time and normally picks outfits he likes. He likes me in nice pants and pretty, feminine tops. He likes me in high heeled sandals, but he's very sensitive to my desire to NOT wear shoes that feel like I have a spike driving into my heel! LOL If we are at home, with the kids, or running around with the kids, I'm normally in either athletic pants (not baggy - yoga pants - slim fitting with flared bottoms) or athletic shorts and clingy tanks and ts. He loves that. I don't own baggy anything - I hate baggy stuff. In the winter, I wear jeans and boots and turtleneck sweaters all of the time. He loves that, too. HE LOVES me in jeans and turtlenecks. LOL

I love the man sandals. Shane has brown ones and black ones. I encourage the black ones lately because the brown ones have seen better days...and smells. I even like his old funky t-shirts as long as he isn't wearing them out to eat, which he'd never do.

Shane wears the crew tees under his dress shirts, BUT he bttons them up to wear a tie. So they aren't seen. And don't get me started on ties. I love ties and I have my taste and he has his. His taste is more conservative. Power ties. Simple. I like the more decorative.....not santa or elvis or silly designs, but the marbled look or something like that. I love the ties where the colors fade into one another like several blues or greens. But he prefers a more simple look and it fits him well. He's very sexy in a tie.

Short sleeved dress shirts remind me of the Audio Visual teachers at school!

It's a fashion DON'T!

Personally, I am always dressed nice. I try to look good wher ever I go because you never know who you will run into. I never go out without a little makeup. Even if I just put on a bit of concealer and mascara, I try to present myself in a positive way. My hair is washed and styled daily too. I own a curling iron and a round brush. I like to match and wear simple jewelry other than my wedding ring. No other rings. I might go in pajama pants with a cute matching tshirt at my most casual, but that would be at 9 o'clock at night when I need to run into the store for a quick loaf of bread for the next day. I don't really care about impressing anyone, it's mostly about impressing myself and feeling good about me. I'm expecting a baby in April, so in a few months, I'll be showing and will want to look like a beautiful expectant mother instead of an old hag.
