I'm trying this now--like the episode of Seinfeld where things starting working out well for George when he started "doing the opposite".

Yes, I have been there....I found that in my situation, the good qualities in him made him more attractive to me. Not that he was hidious, just wasn't what I was usually attracted to. I think that is where being friends first or taking things slow initially

Totally agree. I'm in a relationship now with a guy who didn't knock my socks off physically when I met him, but I found him interesting enough to give him a chance. I wasn't really looking to be in an exclusive committed relationship, but somehow after the first kiss, I don't know, the guy must emit a QueenBun specific pheremone because I just found myself thinking that the first impression from a physical attraction stand point is over rated. There was some serious chemistry from that point onward. And if you've read some of my posts you'll see M turned out to be a gem, just the right fit for me.

Yes. I think attraction can grow in time - when you get to love the "person". I was NOT attracted to Carlos at 1st. Not my "type" at all.

I am currently dating a guy I doubt I would have given a second glance to had we met on the street!

Hi Mary - I agree with the others so far and say stick it out a bit longer.

I am dating someone that I have known for approx 14 yrs.

Your posting has anecdotally validated my theory of how we don't really have that chemistry until the kiss.

I have left my last relationship partly because of the lack of chemistry.

Well, Mark, when you're right, you're right!

It's that old addage about looks fading, bodies growing old, etc., but the chemistry remains and is often what helps people get through tough times together.
