D's hard weekend and coming allergy test

Dylan is going to an allergist this Wednesday so he's been taken off of his Zyrtec and his other creams for Eczema and he's just miserable. Poor baby. No anti-histamines allowed before the test. Saturday was his first official day without the meds. He didn't take anything Friday night except Singulair. Saturday he was sniffling and sneezing and his eyes were watery. He ran fever too later that day. He also ran fever of at least 102.2 Sunday and I worried. I called his pediatric nurse to see if this was normal and she said he probably was running fever and breaking out due to a lack of meds and his body was asking for them. Withdrawal. He's home today just to make sure he's fever free and so far, he is. He goes in Wednesday at 1 for his first allergy test and I hope we find out everything he's really allergic to.

Who else has had an allergy test? How did it go? I never had one, but I hear it is harsh.

Shane's job is great. We just got a healthy tax return and paid off some stuff that will cushion us in the future so I'm happy for that. I'm sure on April 15 and I'm soooo waiting or it! I'm getting the room decorated all cute and we will be getting some furniture for it soon. Shane insists we buy that part ourselves.

I do have a bunch on my plate and it's hard, but I enjoy getting it all done. Rewarding to see the end result. I've actually had time to focus on decorating more. And Shane is more supportive of it than I thought he'd be. Plus he just got Lasik surgery and his eyes are sooooo much better now. He has 20/15 vision now and needs no glasses. He tried them on yesterday and couldn't see out of them. COOL!

He has gorgeous eyes so I'm proud he can go without hiding them now.

Otherwise, I'm doing well and we're getting on with life. Thanks for the compliment on the pix. I didn't care for them much, but Shane loved them and they are for HIM anyway.

How did the test go today, Mel?

It went well. Very well. We now know what hes allergic to....Lot's of stuff. He's allergic to molds, pollens, ragweed, mowed grass, beans, peas, peanuts, corn and horrible reaction to cats. 2/3 of the stuff he was exposed to was reactive and he had awful reactions to all of them. His dad has two cats and has not mentioned any intention of getting rid of them. I feel like this...if this idiot wants his stupid cats and my son comes home sick because of it like he has been, then I plan to take action to make sure those cats are gone.

It's just ridiculous that he would keep them knowing his son is highly allergic.

Oh, BTW, the previa is all cleared up. I am okay and the baby is 4 pounds already. I do, however, have the flu and feel like crap. My fever finally broke. I took some Tylenol and I sweated it out. I was 103.7 last night. Haven't been able to sleep. Hopefully will feel good enough tomorrow to drive Dylan to his visit.

Oh Mel. I am SO SORRY about the flu! I was just popping in here to see how your Dr's appointment had gone. I am thrilled for you that the previa is cleared up.

I too was getting the "crud" and wasn't sure what it was. Finally went to the Dr. My fever didn't get nearly as bad as yours, but I could barely breath for 3 days and slept constantly. Today is the first day I feel human. She said I didn't have the flu, just a really bad viral infectcion and I was already doing everything that I, as a preggo, was allowed to do.

Rest up and take such good care of yourself. Nothing is more miserable than the flu when you're pregnant.

Glad D did ok with his testing too. What a trooper.

Not much you can do if Scott refuses to remove his cats, unfortunatly. But, what did they decide as far as a maintenance allergy med for D? That might help considerably.

He's taking a new liquid instead of Zyrtec. They think it might be better for him to change it because the Zyrect might be in his system too much now and his body might have adjusted to it so it might not be working as well as it did two years ago. He's staying on Singulair for his asthma and the Elidel cream for his skin. Mostly he's just supposed to avoid the problem areas to see if that works. Scott said the cats are outside cats now. Over a month ago, they got sick of litter boxes and began letting them out to potty, but they kept getting woke up in the middle of the night so they decided that outside permanently was the thing. Now how that affects D when he plays outside, I don't know, but I guess it's better than having them inside where the dander is trapped under the same roof. We'll see....

I'm also feeling better. Fever broke yesterday morning and I'm normal since then. I drive him to see his dad today. I'll be tired, but I'll make it.
