Not feeling so good about some weight i've gain over the past few months.... It's to the point now where i have to buy new clothes..... eeeeeek and I've been wearing the same clothes for years. It's also to the point where pictures come back and i'm stunned at my stomach bulging out there.....
I know I'm being hard on myself but it didn't help when my mother said "i've noticed your getting porky." PORKY?! I told her... 10-15 pounds... and you're calling me porky. She said, well you were always so skinny..... Funny how one small comment from my mother and i'm paranoid now....
I know that i've been slowly gaining weight since last summer.... and I was enjoying the fuller curves...but for my mother to call me porky? :-(
I guess it's all those lunches i've been eating lately, right. lol.
Anyhow, needed to vent....

Hey Loony - I feel your pain!
I would think it's easy to lose the first 10 pounds. Spring is coming up, I'm sure you'll have a few nice days to enjoy a walk outside and grab a light lunch. Don't let mom get you down. They are easy to be a little negative. I caught myself doing that almost with Alex the other day. I weigh 110 and she just scaled at 120. I've noticed her getting curvier but I haven't said anything, although I'm
Boy, do I relate. I also can't believe that after a whole lifetime of being naturally on the thin side and often perhaps a bit too thin, I have gained 15, yes 15! lbs in the last 18 months. YIKES! Pictures really get me, so I joined Curves at the first of the year and have been watching what I eat a bit more. Still, I feel fatter. It's like my metabolism just shut down completely at age 46.I am at the point where I will have to buy larger clothes and I refuse to do that so whatever it takes to get at least 10 of the excess poundage off will have to be done.
QueenBun, feeling like the queen of porkies lately
Me, too.... most of my life i was too thin and struggled to keep it on... perhaps my metabolism has slowed as well..... don't know...
Also funny is that only 2 years ago my mother commented on how much weight i was LOSING and said something about.. "you have no butt"... that stressed me out worse than the porky comment... I like having a butt.... I remember I bought size 14 GIRL pants because even size zeros were baggy on me. ... like i said too thin.
So, when i started fitting into woman sized pants again.. that felt good... I'm not complaining but i decided today to work on my abs.... Yes, ABS!! And i suppose i should start watching my portions at lunch, too.

Hey there LB -- I know you're freaking, my recommendation is to check out Weight Watchers online... It's an awesome program. It's relatively inexpensive and you probably only need to use it for a month or two -- but it really works. I've lost 45 lbs since starting WW in Sept 2007. I have a goal to lose 120 lbs (the BMI index recommended weight for my height) and for the first time ever, I can see that happening. It also works for just losing 10-15 lbs, and you'll learn about the right portions and foods to eat in the real world - unlike some of those crash diet trends...
As for all you skinny ladies complaining about 15 lbs in 18 months (wink! wink! QB), I was so unhappy in my marriage that I gained 60 lbs in just 3 years!!! I've always been big -- but once I divorced him I realized that I was drowing my emotions in food and nearly weighed 300 lbs by the time I woke up!!! but now I'm much healthier emotionally and physically. And Happier too!!!
I highly recommend WW -- and no I don't get paid by them, ha! I just know it's working for me

LOL.... a nearby marketplace opened up and it's a good walk... in fact that's how our lunches started.... whenever the weather is nice we walk during lunch.... yesterday i walked to the mall... and i've started doing crunches and other ab exercises.... so i feel hopeful.
And i talked to my sister about mom's comment and she said.. mom's always doing the same thing to her and she said i sound healthy not porky.... (but now, "porky" is the new joke in my house).
thanks everyone for the great ideas!
Love,
Loonybunny
Good luck, sounds like you're doing great!!!
And thanks for the tip on WW online. I would like to tone up and lose about 25 lbs. I am an outdoorsy person though. Does WW guide you into different kinds of activities and such? And how does the food thing work, do you have to buy theirs? Is there a membership fee for online?
Hi PacSun,
I swear I don't get paid for this endorsement, ha! So WW online is basically an information resource for learning a new way to make healthy choices, like portion control, getting active, recipes, etc. How the program works is
