Not feeling so good about some weight i've gain over the past few months.... It's to the point now where i have to buy new clothes..... eeeeeek and I've been wearing the same clothes for years. It's also to the point where pictures come back and i'm stunned at my stomach bulging out there.....

I know I'm being hard on myself but it didn't help when my mother said "i've noticed your getting porky." PORKY?! I told her... 10-15 pounds... and you're calling me porky. She said, well you were always so skinny..... Funny how one small comment from my mother and i'm paranoid now....

I know that i've been slowly gaining weight since last summer.... and I was enjoying the fuller curves...but for my mother to call me porky? :-(

I guess it's all those lunches i've been eating lately, right. lol.

Anyhow, needed to vent....

I'm so glad this is working for you!

Thanks for the info-

it sounds to me that you have to be really self accountable, too. Perhaps

That was my problem with WW--I didn't go to meetings--I only did it online so I was the only one who noticed my scale creeping back up!

Just an FYI, muscle weighs 3x as much as fat. You can be burning fat and getting far more toned, yet see an increase on the scale. Obviously this is if you weren't that big to begin with.

I'm starting to work out now, since I can't keep my figure doing nothing, which worked fairly well into the late 20s. I used to run and lift weights, but then forgot to after children. Now though, I have to start paying attention to what I eat and work out regularly. I recommend that people look up the fitness resources on this site to get some ideas. Get moving and you will feel so much better

Nina is 7, so I can just make sure I don't buy anything that encourages her to pig out on junk food at home, but Alex is 14 and she just eats that stuff at school or when she is out with friends. And you are soooo right! I don't want to ever give Alex a bad image or make her think she is getting puggy (?), but it's a fine line of wanting to be sure the kids do eat right and maintaining a healthy balance without suddenly creating a bad image during some very important years of her life. I just keep thinking that spring and summer are around the corner and she'll be much more active then when she goes back to swimming and track.

As girls approach the 'tween years (around 8, 9 yo), their metabolism shifts and they naturally tend to gain weight.

Well, I make the idea of eating fruits and veggies very fun. The other night I said the broccoli is delicious and made it do a hip hop on the plate!! I said that is going to give you good energy and keep you from getting sick. We always have a ton of the right stuff on hand - grapes washed and in baggies and ready to go, apples, pears, oranges, bananas, salad, healthy leftovers, fat-free light yogurt, 100% juice - that kind of stuff on hand - and not much of the bad stuff like fast food, fried food, cookies and chips. If we want a treat we go and buy it - the Starbucks/Cold Stone type of stuff. I do not ever forbid any of that or make comments on weight. And we do whiz through McD's from time to time. I think you have to make it fun and explain how fruits and veggies help keep you well. And just be as active as you can for your own situation - I think we are that way just from picking up and chasing after our 2 dogs!! LOL!!
