Ok ladies (and guys),

I have been thinking about this lately, and I would like to propose a challenge here for fitness and health.

On another note: I have actually decided to intervene on my mother.

Jennifer-
I know that pain of bursitis! I've had it on and off for 3 years--cortisone shot really, really helped! If this is what you have, please find a doctor who will give you one. You can get into shape while in such pain, but it is much easier to work out, feel positive, eat heathy, etc. when you feel good!

I lost 30 lbs since September by walking 2 miles a day (6-7 days/week). And, eating pretty healthy--but that was easy because I felt so much better. It was difficult for the first 3 weeks, as soon as I lost 10 lbs it was my new lifestyle. I am fortunate to be able to leave my DD while I walk, even though she is just 7--our neighborhood is really safe, I take my phone, and she is not freaked out at all. A good motivator for walking 2 miles in 30 minutes.

Good luck w/your hip. Let me know how the MRI goes.
Mary

**another thought--good running shoes are a must! Go to a running store, or a store where someone who is knowledgeable will spend time with you. I usually get asics "gel nimbus"--expensive, but worth it. And, get new shoes every 4-6 months. You really need to take care of your feet if you want to keep walking.

So nice of you to really help your mother! If she sticks with it, it will change her life. If an hour seems like too much, make it 30-40 minutes. That's all I have time for-and it's enough to work.

Have fun with it--I would have loved to have someone push me like that 3 years ago..

Well, not only is it good for her, it's good for me :)

If I can show her that the more she does, the better results, she'll start to feel motivated herself.

Thanks Mary for the advice! It's good to know that someone else has this problem and has been losing weight which by the way, congratulations to you on your weight loss!

I have New Balance running shoes right now but I may look into those Asics. Thanks!

I'm bumping this one up! It's Friday and I think it's time to report. Right Alison?

It's a 104 in NC and I haven't eaten hardly a bite, it's too hot and I've been lugging furniture in the heat of my apartment. However, I drank some beer to keep me nurished. Does that count? :)

I was awful on trying to do anything this week, but hope it will set in play when next week rolls around.
