FLOORS?????????????
| Tue, 09-11-2007 - 10:21pm |
Okay all - since you were such a help with my laundry, now I need help with the floors!! Maybe just to hear what everyone else does - commiserate - or to learn something new or a shortcut.
The traffic in this house dictates the sweeper every day. I have this battery powered sweeper that can run through the house in one fell swoop, even does area rugs, no cord. But I have to use it every day. In fact today was twice because I have to get up early to swim tomorrow and I know I won't like leaving so early if the floors are a mess. Every so often I use the super de duper vacuum cleaner for the house and mop as needed (I have tile).
What is everyone doing with their floors?

First laundry, now floors?????
I don't do floors.
Ummm, watch them get dirty :0 LOL
Actually I have two dogs so at the beginning of seeing hair gathering I go to town with the vacuum.
I think the Roomba is pretty cool.
If I did the floors I would never ever ever need a man again LOL :) So I'm adding that to my list of must haves for the perfect man: Must WANT to do the floors, hee! hee!
My son does garbage and mops floors about 1x week. My daughter does the loading of dishwasher and sweeps floors every couple of days or so. We each do our own bathrooms/bedrooms/laundry. I have tile floors too -- but bedroom floors get neglected because I have to "borrow" my moms dyson vacuum every so often to go to town on them... I would rather pay someone to clean, that's for sure! But money's tight now so we all kind of pitch in until the top to bottom clean I do once a month. I hate chores, always did and always will :)
I have about half tile half carpet. I vacuum with the regular vacuum about twice a week the common areas. Bedrooms maybe once a week.
Sweep the kitchen daily, spot mop as needed, full mop weekly. Bathroom and other tile sweep and mop weekly or as needed.
I always wanted more tile and less carpet, but I hate the way dog hair just floats around on tile. Sweeping doesn't always seem to do the job for me.
As my children get older, I'm finding I have to mop less, which is great. I also have put them pretty much in charge of their own bedrooms, and Droid does a great job with his. The Princess still needs help, but I like that she tries and I try not to open her closet too often.
Moody, who'd rather mop than fold laundry

My kids don't yet have any chores outside of their bedrooms. I don't care much about making their beds- I help change the sheets weekly, and they must put their toys and clothes away and run the vaccuum- which is the part they like.
I've actually been considering what chores should be theirs, I'm thinking folding laundry and loading/unloading the dishwasher are perfect thigns for my kids to learn to do.
I remember being their ages and my mother leaving me a list of things that needed to get done. I don't want to be that extreme, but I do want them to learn that we all have a role, and by everyone doing their part, we have a much nicer home.
Moody, who really doesn't enjoy cleaning

Our floors get vacuumed/mopped between 1 and 3 times a week, depending on how bad the dogs are shedding.
All this talk of cleaning is making me feel bad. My house needs a SERIOUS top to bottom cleaning. Our summer was nuts and when I did have time to clean, I didn't want to, so I didn't!
In my defense,
I am definitely not what anyone could call a neat freak, but my son likes things tidy.
