I am shocked... I found soo many single events in my area when i was surfing the internet... I never knew... I heard something on the radio today so i did a search for "sensation singles".

There are meetups, and speed dating, and friday fling dances... etc.. Now i have to get up the nerve to go....lol...

I'm just afraid of who goes to those things... over 40 singles? men who don't know how to meet women???? Will I be embarrassed if i went???? Listen to me.. i can't believe what kind of thoughts i'm having.....

My biggest fear is that the men will all be old or ugly... and most of those events cost money ($30+)... and would you go alone to a Singles Dance or Party? or make sure to bring a wing woman.

Anyway, i'm trying to branch out and do other things beside karaoke every saturday... should I??? What are your experiences with Speed Dating, Meetups, or Single's Dances?

I live in an extremely rural area, so when I was looking, all of these types of things were always too far away.

however, I think they sound like a ton of fun!

I also think i'd go with a single friend, at least to the first one, and just see.

i'm betting there are a ton of people who aren't old or "desperate", who simply work a lot, possibly raise their kids, and are exploring non-traditional ways to meet others.

Go!

Have fun, and come back and post!

Well, I have considered these, but just haven't been able to make anything mesh with my schedule so far. I'm neither old nor bald (oh wait, I'm not a man either). Here they have groups with age ranges (20/30, 30/40, 40/50) so that you are with people of your own age. I think you could take a friend but often it is suggested that you don't. If you take someone with you, that kind of defeats the purpose. Many people will stick to the person they bring. If you go alone, you will be forced to mingle and meet new people. There will be other women there so you can make new girlfriends as well as the possibility of meeting a man.

If you find one that fits and interests you, I say go. It could be lots of fun. It's always good to branch out and try new things.

Hey Priscilla,

Dont' you live in the Richmond area? I have a potential job opportunity in that area and was wondering how the housing market is there... and other stuff....

I think i'll keep checking the calendar and attend one that looks interesting... Like the Halloween party.... which is not ON Halloween so i won't miss a more familiar party....I know of a Halloween party being thrown by one of the TV anchors BUT i have'nt gotten day and time, yet.
