Hello,
Friday after work i went to my fav karaoke spot.. No matter what we say about branching out.. I ALWAYS seem to meet someone at this place... I had one of my perfect nights of "getting my man," seeing someone i thought was good looking and i wanting to meet him.. Didn't know how to approach.. just eyed him and smiled. All my usual girls were out too... Summer, Reba, WW and several other friends to hang out with.. Then a guy starts speaking to me from behind "my friend's been checking you out all night..." It was a friend of the new guy... Unfortunately he points out a different guy, but i said, "well, i've been checking out your other friend in the brown jacket." So he tells me his name and says i should say hi...
After my song, i did go over to the group of guys. Started talking to all of them... The cute guy says, "i bet you'll NEVER guess where i'm from.." I said, "Alaska" and i was right...LOL... So his nickname will be Alaska. I went back to my group... but before the end of the night, i went back and said, "Can i get you number" or something like that... Alaska said something like "wow, your aggressive" But he gave me his number and i dialed his and said, now you have mine too. But he said, since i asked for his number, i should call him. fine, i said.
As i was leaving Alaska and his friend came up to my car to say goodbye..And i get really embarrassed about my minivan... But i said i'd call him. But he said NOT on Sunday because of football... He did text me later Friday night just checking to see if i was home or maybe ...you know how guys are... but i said goodnight and that i'd call. Pretty good Friday, huh.
Saturday night was kinda boring!!! Again, i tried to check out a new place. My coworkers have a band and were playing at a place i never go... So i went but it was BORING. Probably because i couldn't get any of my karaoke friends to come with me.. They'd rather hang out at the same place. And i thought to myself, i sound better than their lead singer... Anyway, i tried a new place, right! And as i was leaving, i spotted a cutie... But like i said, i'm embarrassed of my minivan, so i tried to just get in my car and go before being spotted. Too bad, because i think the cutie was checking me out... And in my rear view mirror it looked like he was guesturing to me.. But i zoomed out of there.... embarrassed by the minivan. Know what i mean.
Tonight my friends just texted me that they are at the bar.. So i'm going.. i was at work putting together my DEMO REEL so i can apply for a really great job in Richmond. Wish me luck.

Wow - keep us posted about the job in Richmond - is that very far? Would you have to move?
It sounds like the karaoke bar is an old favorite and you have fun there. I am just not so convinced you can meet someone that serious in a bar - but maybe that is because I am not into the bar scene - it seems like they are just interested in calling late for their own purposes? BUT you do have fun there so maybe one of these days you will run into a good one. It seems like you have a great mix of doing something old and comfortable that you like and getting out and trying something new.
Too bad you can't be lead singer for that band? Maybe they will consider you as a backup?
And don't worry about the minivan - you are so funny!!
Richmond is 2 hours away... so yes, i would have to move... But the job would be an awesome opportunity.. I'm really hoping to get it...
But atleast i'll be able to apply to other jobs that could be of equal opportunity... so that i will be able to buy a home...
I need to get in gear though before it slips away...
Yea, and here's something sweet... I just happened to tell my son (age 8) that i was applying for a better paying job. It kinda just came out since it's been on my mind and i was just speaking out loud... that i need to focus on applying and mailing my stuff... (normally i wouldn't want to get his hopes up...)
So, he started to get excited. Personally, i have a hard time believing that i could actually get a well-paying job.. kwim... but my son BELIEVES.. so tonight (the same night i told him about the job opportunity) he makes me a card .. saying "i hope you get your new job" and drew a picture of me holding a BIG check. HOW SWEET!!

I don't think the men
Good point about the minivan... it just doesn't feel sexy or hot....
I used to borrow my mother's car (Nissan coupe) just so nobody would see me get into the minivan...doh...but that was me a year ago.. trying to hide who i really am... I don't hide my age or that i'm a single mom.. BUT the minivan.. NO!!! That's not me!!! I feel more like a porche.... classic, sexy, expensive, good engineering!!!
What kind of car do you feel like?
