Fun question for all - COFFEE
| Tue, 07-31-2007 - 4:51pm |
I was thinking of this question for us as I was baking brownies for DS and his friend and making coffee for me to wake up.
We all love coffee - make it at home, get it out and even have our first dates as coffee dates.
SO.... what do you guys like to put in your coffee?
a) if you make it at home?
b) if you have it out?
Do you always drink regular? Or do you ever drink decaf?

We don't all love coffee. At lesat I don't. Of course in America that is like saying you don't like dogs - no one really says anything but they look at you funny. LOL.
Anyway.
I drink tea at home and out and depending on the blend put in nothing, or aa little skim and splenda. Unless it is cold - then always nothing no matter what the blend.
When I make it at home I use 50% skim milk and 50% coffee - "cafe con leche" as my Latin friends taught me. I top with whipped cream and cinnamon. Always put it in a huge cup.
Sometimes it is regular, sometimes half regular/half decaf and sometimes decaf. Just depends on the moment. I can't sleep at night if I drink caffeine too late. But the caffeine is essential after a hard workout when I have another workout afterwards. I can remember a few days where I biked, ran, took a nap and then had to juice up on caffeine to manage a swim, too.
When I go out, I order fat-free latte - half caff - meaning they put half decaf and half regular. Late at night = decaf for sure.
Good point! Tea lovers can rejoice here too.
Tell us what kind of teas you enjoy. I like a variety of tea as well.
Teas, let's see:
Darjeerling
Lemon Rose
Early Grey
Lady Grey (very good iced)
Ginger and Lemon
Passion Tea
Irish Breakfast
The key to good tea - fresh leaves, really hot water and loose tea (not in a bag)
Ohhhh, coffee. My savior in the mornings.
I drink mine iced, hot, tepid, doesn't matter.
In the mornings I usually have a cup of regular with flavored creamer and splenda- typically it's either hazelnut or chocolate creamer.
I love all the new iced coffees- dunkin donuts' chocolate or mocha, BK's mocha, McDonald's hazelnut, Starbuck's hazelnut..... the list goes on and on. My guilty pleasure for sure, is coffee.
I used to fret about all the calories I consume, but I realized that I LOVE coffee, and I'm not eating nearly as much chocolate or sweets when I get my coffee fix.
I tend to drink 6-8 cups a day, sometime smore, very rarely less, and never any decaff for me.
Moody, working on her second cup now

My coffee intake from morning to mid afternoon is about 6-8 cups. I start off with a strong espresso and then head toward the lighter coffee in the afternoon.
And though my children shouldn't drink coffee, Alex my oldest and I love Caribou Coffee. Our favorite is the Turtle Coffee: Made with espresso, milk, caramel and choc syrup, whip cream and topped with snicker bars. LOL.
I can't live without coffee, but I have realized I HAVE to downsize! I know it's not healthy to drink that much and only that.
I'm not a huge coffee drinker... i get my caffiene from pepsi mostly... but on the occasion that I need an extra boost... I LOVE Hazel Nut Coffee. In the summer, I love an occassional Mocha Frap.
I don't make my own coffee at home. I don't drink decaf... it's all about the CAFFIENE.
I LOVE the taste of coffee but the caffine makes me bbounce off the walls. So .... I save it for those occasions when I REALLY need it ie. when I have a presentation at work, or on those really sleepy days. When I do indulge I like flavoured coffee such as French vanilla or hazelnut and I always like milk and sweetner (splenda).
On a more regular basis I do enjoy green tea - always with sweetner as well.

"bbounce" - CUTE!! You got a laugh out of me!!
I am sort of the same with the caffeine. I don't need a lot. I think the turning point for when I started drinking more was when I got the new coach and observed how all the other athletes who carry such a heavy load use it to function when they are tired.
This morning I had to go out for 2.5 hours on the bike and now I am in coffee city so I can work. Normally I can get up at 5 every day without the alarm or coffee and run through the day - yes - sick - I know - I am one of "those" people!! LOL!!
