Funny, weird things

I was just sitting here thinking about dating experiences and the really weird things that happen. I was almost hysterical with laughter remembering the time I shut my finger in the car door the first time I met a guy I was being fixed up with. It's been years ago and I'm sure that I didn't think it was so funny then. We were going out from his house because we had a mutual friend who lived close by and I was already in that area. I pulled into his driveway, got out of the car and shut my finger in the door. I thought I would die it hurt so bad!! I walked up to his front door in so much pain and I think I immediately asked him for ice!! He got a horrible first impression of me!! It seems like I cut the date short that night so I could go home and wish the day away.
I also went out with a guy who reminded me of Thomas Dolby (She Blinded Me With Science) but not in a cool way. I just remember he was awkward with big shoes. Hmmmm....
So, who else has a weird dating story to share?

yep, my thoughts were running towards "you can affect a cellular level change by putting something on your skin in the shower! SHEESH!
But I just smiled and nodded and got out of that as soon a possible.
What was bad was it was a set up by a friend. And this guy had been HER friends BF for 4 YEARS! She said he was quite nice. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....
LOL
I can think of two stories, although one isn't actually a date.
The first guy was a blind date, set up by one of my best friends. She had this computer guy who always came in to her office if their computers acted up. One day she was talking to him and he mentioned being single and raising a little girl. Well, I guess she thought of me and me being single with a son, and thought it would be a perfect match. So she asked if I could let her set us up. It was exciting talking about this date, a double date with us, her husband and this guy. She kept going on and on about how fun things would be if him and I hooked up, since her husband and this guy (don't even remember his name LOL, so I'll call him Bob) they both liked cars and electronics and would have lots to talk about.
So fast forward to date night, and we are to meet Bob at the restaurant. There were a few good looking men come in, and I was hoping he was one of them, no such luck. Finally my friend says, "oh there he is..." and I turn to see this guy, NOT what I had been picturing from the description walk in. Now, I am a TOTAL teeth person, and this guy had square teeth with gaps in between each one- something that turned me off right away, but the kicker was HE WAS SHORTER THAN ME!! Now, I'm only 5'3'', so I'm not a tall girl, but I do like my men to be taller than me, and with me in my heels for the date, I was TOWERING over this guy. I just was appalled that my friend, who knew me SO well set us up!! He was a total bore, we had nothing in common other than we had kids, and I was so uncomfortable, couldn't wait for the night to end.
Never agreed to a blind date again.
The other instance was a guy I met on lavalife. We emailed back and forth a few times, and he kept pressing me to call him or meet him for coffee. Being new to the dating scene, and new to internet dating, I wanted to wait- but this guy didn't understand that and kept insisting. Finally I asked him why, and his response was, "well, I'm supposed to meet this other girl I've been chatting with for 3 months this weekend, but if I meet you and we hit it off, I can tell HER OUR GOOD NEWS." At that point, I made some excuse about having to get off messenger and logged off. Well, I check my email two days later and there's this email from him all angry with me cause I didn't talk/ email/ messenger him the day before and how I shouldn't "waste his time" and so forth. I blocked him at once.

LOL!
I always showed a rather simple unassuming picture of me. If they thought I was attractive great! I preferred to “wow” them in person. LOL Not to sound conceited or anything, but I usually got the “wow, you’re even better looking in person!” comment. Wish I could say the same for most of them…sigh.
It did happen twice. Once with my FWB buddy. When I met him I said “Wow, he’s super cute!” and when I met my SO. I was not really impressed with his profile picture, but not turned off either. But when I met him in person, my heart did a little flip, he was so dang cute!!
ack! I totally get you about the teeth and the height! LOL I had the same problem with a few of my internet dates. If they were short, they ALWAYS lied about their height. (the ones I talked to did anyway.) I am 5’6” and I like to wear 2-3” heels. A man I went out with who told me he was 5’9” actually turned out to be 5’2” with really small hands and other features. I felt huge next to him!
What is it with these guys who think the internet is a license to be so crass! I can’t believe the nerve of the dude telling you he’s talking to the other woman and trying to put her off for you!
I remember a guy I never met but IM’d and emailed with for a while until he asked me if I like massages because he could give me a really nice one on our first date…with his big hands and other…big…things. Ugh…
EWWWW
Like that's going to be a big turn on!!
I just shake my head in disbelief of some people.
When I used to work at a gas station, I got hit on all the time by guys who were married and had girlfriends. I really liked this one guy who seemed all that, but something he said made me stop and ask, "do you have a girlfriend" to which he said, "yeah, well, I live with a girl, but I want to end things..."
What a crude!
