To Go or Not To Go

Hey not much lead time on this question....
But I'm wondering about going to another coworker function. I received a myspace bulletin about some coworkers going to a comedy club.... not a formal invitation, BUT maybe open to anyone.
At first I didn't know if I could find a sitter... so with that being a possible issue I didn't commit... hmm should I go if I get a sitter....?
The down side is that it costs a lot of money (comedy club, drinks/food, babysitter). The up side is hanging out with good people ... if only I knew who was actually going... I don't want to be the odd man out if only a tight knit group is going... know what i mean.

Loony, can you message the person back that sent it to you, and simply ask who will be there? Maybe something casual, like "Not sure if I can get a sitter- will there be a lot of other people from work there?" And see what the person says.
If you don't have time, I'm not sure I would go- unless it was something I'd be happy to do alone. If I thought that unless certain people went, I would be bored or feel uncomfortable, I probably wouldn't want to spend the money and risk being bored or uncomfortable. if it was something I would enjoy, even I was alone all night, I'd probably just go. Odds are, you'll have a great time- if you THINK you'll have a great time, and being miserable if you go into it thinking you'll be miserable.
Let us know what you decide to do!
Moody, who'd probably go

Yes, I messaged the person back but didn't hear anything before I left work... and I don't have internet at home ... so I couldn't check for a reply. I kind of know who the usuals are that go out on the weekend.. so I got a sitter and ATTEMPTED to go...
Unfornately, I was running late and by the time I showed up to the comedy club, they had all gone inside. That's when I decided not to go in... I didn't know who was there or if there were seats available.
But I remember the bulletin said they were going out afterwards to meet anyone who had to work that night...I called work and I said "hey, I got that bulletin saying some people were going out tonight... I'm gonna be out later... do you know where they are meeting." He said he would text me the details because he was meeting them after he got off work at 11:30 p.m.
So since I had time to kill ... I went to my fave karaoke bar. Hey, I was appreciative to have a night to myself and a break from the children. I sang quite a few songs, too. Talked to many guys new and old. But when it got close to midnight and I didn't get a text message... I started to feel a little down.
Fortunately, I didn't feel down for long... I met someone really cute. His name is Sean (lol my sister is starting to call my guys "flavors of the week.") I had a really fun time with Sean (who is a friend of a friend). Our mutual friend gives him a lotto scratcher and we scratch it together winning $4. Cool, huh. I guess we bonded over a lottery ticket. hehehe.
I'll write more details later but bottom line is we exchanged numbers. I don't feel stressed over whether he'll call. I had a good time.

loony, I'm glad you went, found something else to do, and enjoyed yourself! My impromptu things that are really only happening because plans fell through are often more fun than the planned event would have been.
You made good use of the child-free time, and had fun doing what you wanted to do. There's no better way to go through life than that!
Moody, wishing there was karoake around here more often

Update on the comedy club outing... Apparently, plans had changed this past saturday night for them as well... next time I'll get someone's cellphone... My coworkers didn't go to the 8 pm show, so it's a good thing I didn't go in when I was late.... But a couple people were hoping that I showed up. I told them what happened to me and one person said that the 8 o clock was sold out so they went to the 10 pm show. And afterwards, since it was late, they just went home... so that explains why I didn't get a text message. So now I know... the next time they are making plans, I will be totally welcome.
I think they might be having a Super Bowl party this Sunday... hmmmmmm. I'll see him i can get a sitter.

The Super Bowl party sounds great! Hope you manage to get a sitter...
Enjoy!
