I have wanted to try this for some time but now I think I will have to do it...attend the "Singles Redefined" Sunday school class at the new church I have been attending. It is for people 28 and older that have been divorced or are single with children. My son loves the children's church but we haven't been to any classes. My contact for the church and the man who heads that class met me yesterday after the service and they were so funny and so nice. I got to meet their wives too. They really wanted me to attend the class but I told them I can be shy at first. I'm an outgoing person but I don't like to be in the spotlight. :) I don't know how my son would like the Sunday school class for him. I may wait and go when he is with his dad to try it out.
I'm a little nervous but I would really like to meet new people other than online.
Just thought I would throw that out there to see what you all thought.

I love the idea of a church with classes tailored specifically to people in non-traditional families. The church I last went to, the church I grew up in, was not at all this way. I was the only single mother there, and I felt very left out, and very much a pariah at times.
Just the idea that this church thinks this way makes me want to join! I think, go for it! Don't expect to meet a man, but the possibility for meeting all sorts of people in the same situation is great- you can make friends with people who have a similar life situation, and who share the same faith.
That's a wonderful thing in itself, and since everyone will be single or divorced and in roughly the same age bracket, you never know who you might meet.
Have fun, and keep us posted
Moody, now looking for a church

And Moody, this is a BAPTIST church too!! lol I have nothing against Baptists obviously, I started out as Methodist but I think the 2 just kind of blended together in my eyes. This church is very laid back to be a Baptist church. Some Baptist churches don't like for you to clap, dance, ect. but this church does.
I was looking on their website at all of the different adult classes they offered and I saw where they had a singles class for people out of high school up until the age of 30 that have never married. Luckily the class that I want to attend is for the end of that age group and these people will know what I'm going through. The guy that leads this class told me that they were currently going over the "10 commandments of dating". lol Lord I would LOVE to be in there to hear what he has to say! hehe
I will definitely let you all know when I go and how it goes.

OH - well this is quite good for all of us - I do hope you post what you learn her. I would love to see the 10 commandments of dating!!
There was another single mom here - I think it is loonybunny - whose church took the single moms on an outing and treated them really special. I can't remember what it was - maybe it was for Valentine's day.
So you could be onto something very good here.
