These are the lyrics from an old Alan Jackson song, "I'll Try":
Here we are
Talkin' bout forever
Both know damn well
It's not easy together
We've both felt love
We've both felt pain
I'll take the sunshine
Over the rain
And I'll try
To love only you
And I'll try
My best to be true
Oh darlin', I'll try
So I'm not scared
It's worth a chance to me
Take my hand
Let's face eternity
Well I can't tell you
That I'll never change
But I can swear
That in every way
And I'll try
To love only you
And I'll try
My best to be true
Oh darlin', I'll try
I'm not perfect
Just another man
But I will give you
All that I am
And I'll try
To love only you
And I'll try
My best to be true
Oh darlin', I'll try
I'll try
To be true to you
I'll try
I'll try
To always love you
I'll try

What do yall think about that? It's a great song for doing a slow two-step, for sure.
A long time ago, I used to love the song, for what it says. I thought it was such a sweet thing. But today, I just heard it on my iPod and I thought to myself, "You'll TRY?!?? Well, that's just not good enough!!"
Isn't it funny? Lyrics that I once thought "aw, how sweet... I wish someone could sing that to me" kind of thing... and now it's not raising the bar up high enough. I won't stand for a man who will just TRY to be true to me, like it's such a chore to avoid other women! Sheesh, dude! Hit the road if it's such a sacrifice!!!
LOL... so I don't know if I'm just simply jaded, or if I just have higher standards and expectations now.
~shrimpy, who never even wonders for one second, if Hiker will be true or not- I know he IS

Lol- you're hilarious!
Well I must agree - "I'll try to love only you" just wouldn't get it for me either. I want someone who really appreciates and loves me for me and who wants to be focused on the important things in their life and not flitting around like a leaf in the wind.
