Half of the prom date report

Okay - so yesterday we were on the IM and we both have a cold and are a bit under the weather but we want to see each other and think this getting sick thing is so ridiculous. So, we decided that we have to keep our prom date short - to drinks with his parents and dinner. No dancing. He really wanted me to meet them because they just had some dear friends pass away and wanted to cheer them up. We kept it very casual - included them in part of the prom plans as he had always done in the past. And it was great because they took our picture so I will have that to send to friends.

He came to my house and picked me up. He brought me flowers and he had found this really fun cheap pair of earrings when he was in the store and thought of me so he bought them. I had joked that I never spend more than $3 for a pair of earrings because I always lose them and don't like to waste money on real jewelry - would always rather spend the money on my bike and sport stuff. And he likes that a lot about me - that I am not materialistic but know what I want and am ambitious. He says he loves what is in my head - that I am strong and talented and athletic and that I can cook.

We really hit it off with his parents and ended up having dinner with them. It was a beautiful night and we were on the water - this is really the first weekend it has been cool enough here to eat outside. His mom loves to cook and they have traveled a lot so we just had fun exchanging stories. And it really was casual - no drilling or grilling or anything intense. I could tell they really liked me. They really liked hearing the story about how we met and our high school days.

I made sure I dressed really conservative - and that ended up being a good thing because we are going to go dancing next week and I want the hot new outfit for that occasion. I guess we have spread prom to 3 different weekends!!

Oh- and his kisses are to die for

I am so giggly for you!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful evening. You were wise to save the really hot outfit. I'm sure it wouldn't have look too hot with a red nose and watery eyes! lol

I'll be glad when both of you become well so you can have your "total" prom night. But it's been great reading your post to the big event.

Thanks emma!

I should add that we have been on the phone every night talking about all sorts of stuff - a lot of fun memories, our sports stuff, our businesses and what we want in a relationship. We are on the same page with so much stuff.

We really both want the same thing out of a relationship and that is huge. We both want someone who will keep their partner's feelings in mind when making decisions and who will put in the time it takes to stay compatible. I was quite floored when we started talking about all this stuff - I think we got on that topic when we started exchanging our "dating after 35" stories and all the losers/misfits we have met. His parents have a really great relationship and so do his siblings and he wants the same.

That is probably the reason we have both stayed sick for so long - we are not getting enough sleep! Plus there is just a bad bout of stuff going around here - always happens when snowbird season comes back to us southerners.

He really loves that I am signed up for an Ironman and wants to help me train for it and he really wants to get back in shape. He was an elite runner in HS and college and ran 4 minute miles.

I forgot to mention that his mom asked me all about DS and we were talking about him and her grandkids and she told me so many funny childhood stories about MA. I thought that was so sweet of her. She loves that I went to cooking school and is quite the cook herself. The list of stuff that she would make them was so impressive although she now admits that since she doesn't have 3 kids to do the pots that she cooks much more simple for her and his dad and we all had a laugh over that.

So happy to hear that everything is going so well for you and MA!

I guess you don't mind passing the cold germs back and forth between the two of you, lol!!!

MA sounds soooo nice! I'm so happy for you!!

There really is something to be said about how a man is around their family and also seeing if most of his family is happy, adjusted, functional, etc. His parents sounds great and it is great to hear that his siblings are happyin their relationships. I think that is a sign that MA came from a well balance healthy parents!

It sounds like things are going so well and I really enjoyed reading your update this morning. What a ray of sunshine!
