hmmm, wondering what the fantastic thing that min got to do was?
What was your favorite part of the weekend?
Sleeping in!
Do anything you didn't really want to do?
Yes, went to a movie. Went shopping with my dd.
Do anything fun with the kids?
We only had one child with us this weekend…the oldest boy. We took him Glow-bowling. That was fun. When I picked up dd from her dad’s she and I went on a shopping spree, which was also fun!
See any movies or read any books or even any magazine articles?
Saw Alfie. I give it a thumbs up!
How was the weather? cooooold, and drizzly.
Whatcha got goin' on for the week?
Work. Disney show, and my birthday :)
Of course I did stuff that I didn't want to do, who wants to do laundry and homework??
The kids were with dad this weekend, but I went to DD's soccer finals...they lost, but it was a good game.
I've been reading this book called Being Tongan for my class/edification...Tonga is a tiny kingdom and we just so happen to have some of these students in my school. I've never heard of this country until I got this job.
The weather was gorgeous this weekend. Sunny and only a tiny bit cool.
For this week, my French friend is coming to dinner on Tuesday, I've got my final to worry about and some homework to do besides that for class on Thursday.
What was your favorite part of the weekend?
Friday night. TT got home on time, it was just he, I and Alex, and he cooked a great dinner for us, we played on the floor, put Alex to bed, snuggled up and watched a movie together. NICE, relaxing weekend. AND - I know this sounds crazy - but I was given the ugliest ceiling fan in the history of ceiling fans - and I took it apart, cleaned it with stripper, spray painted it, then hand painted designs on the blades, reassembled it - and hung it in the "red room" (the guest room that my niece is moving into) and I LOVE it. It turned out SOOOOOOO amazing and I'm just super tickled that the guest room has a good quality fan that cost me $15 in supplies and seriously looks like something a decorator did. :)
Do anything you didn't really want to do?
Went to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese - and while I REALLY didn't want to go - Alex had the BEST time - and I so enjoyed watching him!
Do anything fun with the kids?
Alex helped me make brownies - which was hysterical. He was "stirring" (basically making a mess) and I cracked the eggs into the bowl and he FREAKED out "EWWWWW! MOMMY!!!!! EWWWWWWW!!!!! POO POO!!!!!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" But he doesn't like brownies. LOL He would suck the vanilla ice cream off of the brownie bites and spit the brownie bites back onto his plate!! LOL
See any movies or read any books or even any magazine articles?
I watched several movies over the weekend - - - Friday night we watched Raising Helen, which was cute but cheesey, I watched Antwone Fisher (again) which I loved, and I watched a documentary on HBO called The Last Days that was about the Hungarian Jews during WWII which was shocking, sad, infuriating, all at the same time. OH - and I watched Homeward Bound II with Alex - who loves the puppies and kitties in the movie. :)
How was the weather?
Friday and Saturday it was cold (to me!) and overcast and windy - yesterday it was BEAUTIFUL with highs in the low 60s and sunny - we played outside ALOT yesterday. :)
Whatcha got goin' on for the week?
TT has a big convention in and he's working lots of nights - so I'm flying solo most of the week. I have both boys all week - and I have some projects that I'm going to work on after the boys go to bed . . . stripping and refinishing a dresser and 7 picture frames (all of which I picked up at a garage sale for $25.00 total and have about 10 coats of paint on them and look HORRIBLE - here's hoping!)

1) being a facilitator at a diversity seminar session Saturday morning, because I got to meet and discuss the experiences of 10 new people and help them share those with each other. They were all graduate students in the school of social work and VERY cool people.

2)Watching Lilo and Stitch with my 13 year old. We have it taped and have watched it lots, but it's still one of our favorites. We cuddled on the futon and laughed and cried. Every time they talk about Ohana my eyes tear up.
Do anything you didn't really want to do?
Paying bills, dishes, laundry, all those single mom weekend catch up things.
Do anything fun with the kids?
Besides Lilo and Stitch, I took my daughters out a couple of times each. We like to hang out at Barnes and Noble and talk over a cup of latte.
See any movies or read any books or even any magazine articles?
I read articles that were research for my paper, which I'm writing this week. I am almost finished and the rough draft is due Thursday.
How was the weather? It was pretty part of the time, and rainy part of the time.
Whatcha got goin' on for the week? Writing for my class, I'm going to meet with my Japanese conversation partner this week, my class meetings, work, and flirting with that cute custodian at the anthro dept. building. ;)
My favorite part of the weekend was yesterday because even though the kids were with me, I had a few hours to myself. Katie had her first sleep over at a friends house Saturday night and she stayed most of Sunday afternoon because she was having fun. (I'm so excited, this is her first real friend besides her brother's friends). Sunday, Alex and I went to church. After church he was asked by a friend to go see the Incredibles with him, so I was alone for a few hours on Sunday afternoon. I did something I haven't done in over a year -- I painted. Not walls, ceramics. I'm making some stuff to sell at a church craft show and whatever is left, will be presents for teachers. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed doing that. I really love it, I just don't have the time anymore. It's very therapeutic for me.
Do anything you didn't really want to do?
Saturday night me and Alex went shopping to Walmart (I hate that place because it's always so croweded, but I needed stuff).
I really didn't want to clean house, but since the kids were gone, I felt guilty, so I did it.
Do anything fun with the kids?
Me and kids went to a church hayride on Saturday.
See any movies or read any books or even any magazine articles?
Alex and I snuggled up on the couch Saturday night and watched the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We've seen it a million times, but it's still one of our favorites.
How was the weather?
It was sunny, but cold. The fire felt good at the hayride.
Whatcha got goin' on for the week?
Nothing except the usual homework. Today's my birthday (as Garfield would say: Big Fat Hairy Deal), but I have no plans. Didn't even get a happy birthday from my kids. I'm going to see my counselor tonight. I'm a little down today; I feel like having a pity party for myself and I know she'll listen.

I am so happy for you that you got to paint for awhile! I decided while working on the ceiling fan that time or no - even if it means not starting the project until after the kids have gone to bed and being exhausted all of the next day - and even if it means it takes 4 months to complete a project - I'm going to get back into refinishing furniture/furnishings because I LOVE IT so much . . . . .
Hugs to you - I'm sorry you are feeling blue.

I give you a lot of credit; refinishing furnish is a lot of work. But I know it's beautiful when you get done, and I'm sure it gives you such a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. As for me, I don't know if this is good or bad, but since I got a little taste of it yesterday, I have the painting but right now. I have to buy some new brushes and get a few more paints, but I am totally into it. And I know I will be like you -- staying up late to finish a project and being exhausted the next day. But nothing gives me more peace than putting on a CD (something soft like the Eagles greatest hits) and painting when its all quiet in my house. Like I said, I hope to make some money for the church, but even if I don't, I have ready-made teachers' gifts.
Donna
I have never painted ceramics - but I used to toll paint - and every extra penny I had went into paints and brushes and patterns! LOL
I think it's good to get the painting bug. Very, very good. This morning, before I left for work, I went and stood in the guest room and admired my beautiful "new" ceiling fan . . . I can't wait until I can move in the dresser and picture frames, too!

This is fun - you always ask us such great questions - I love reading the answers to these polls!!
What was your favorite part of the weekend?
Seeing my coach! :-)
Do anything you didn't really want to do?
No. I didn't feel like cleaning the house so I took a paper towel and got up all the dust balls by the wall boards - otherwise the house looks clean - I keep everything picked up and said, I can get one more week out of these floors!! :-)
Do anything fun with the kids?
YES - we ran a 5 K through the Festival Of Lights on Saturday night and then went to Sweet Tomatoes - that is a buffet restaurant. The irony is that I used to always dress him up and take him on a date there on Saturdays when he was a baby (I was married then but his dad was always away or working) - and he is 8 and I am still doing that now!!
My son ran a 27:30 - he ran so well and so fast - I was really proud of him!! He was the fastest 8 year old and came in 12th out of 49. I didn't do too bad: 25:30 and came in 6th out of 89.
On Sunday we went back to those lights and took a more leisurely bike ride through the lights. We donated a toy for the homeless children and had out picture taken. THEN - he had a little cut and the CUTEST paramedic put a bandaid on it!!
See any movies or read any books or even any magazine articles?
No - but we are "fixing" to go and see the Polar Express on the IMAX here.
How was the weather?
Sunny and warm - in the 70s.
Whatcha got goin' on for the week?
Work, working out, keeping up with the school shuffle.
Happy Birthday Donna!! I am sorry for you that you are down on your birthday. I think that is a hard day when you are alone and in the blues.
May tomorrow and all the rest of your days be much better and brighter.
How fun that you painted on ceramics - I think that is really relaxing and fun!!
