I had so much FUN at karate! This was my third time. I learned how to fall without KILLING myself and then I learned how to throw the college kid I was partnered with. WOO HOO! I DO l like throwing people. Clayton (my partner) thought I might hurt myself, he warned me before I tried to throw him that he weighed about 145 pounds...he didn't know if I could lift that much. Hey bud, I move my own furniture (I didn't say that) but you should have seen the look of surprise on his face when I decked him. HAHhahahaa....gotcha! I wasn't this wild at class though, I kept humble but happy. My middle daughter now thinks I'm a total maniac because I was so bouncy after class.

Then we did the first kata bunkai...which is the series of moves called a kata, but with a partner...one is attacker, one is defender. This is so much fun. Clayton was very patient showing me which blocks to make and when to punch, talking me through it. If I get these moves down, I will be graceful...and I'm going to try rolling over someone between now and next Monday, so I can do it without being afraid. I did some rolls at church the other night, on cushions, and I love it. Now I need to see if I can do it on a mat without hurting myself.

I left feeling very in touch with my body and bouncy. I'm telling you, people noticed. We stopped at Bellacino's for a sandwich on the way home and the guy at the counter was really paying attention to me. My estimation of guys now may be "I could throw him, and I could throw him...hmmmm, maybe I couldn't throw him"...LOL.

The mexican doctoral student (here on known as Mex PhD) was watching me too, even during the conditioning/workout time he was showing off for me. Making sure I was looking when he did a roll over his partner, swinging his arms cute and smiling at me, and smiling really big every time he ran by...hahaha. Then, when his partner couldn't throw him, I started encouraging her and Mex PhD thought that was cute... I could throw him if I got the chance...I'm strong. He asked me if I wanted to try, but in the nick of time Clayton's partner had to leave and so we got together. Next time maybe the Mex PhD will have to ask me to BE his partner? ;)

I wonder if I had known how to fall if I would have stopped myself before I hurt my knee when I fell down the stairs a couple of years ago? If I keep this up I won't be afraid of it any more. I've already lost 10 lbs and another 10 pounds off and my knee will not hurt so much anyway. I've done it before and know it will be better. I feel so much more powerful!

..this COULD be better than romance. :)

Have a great day...

Wow! That sounds sooo fun. Good for you Candi!

Too funny about evaluating guys on whether or not you can throw them. ;)

What a great story! Was really laughing! I can imagine the look on the guys face. Keep up the fantastic work on losing weight. Sounds like your doing a great job on it. Losing weight, keeping in shape and doing something you love. RIGHT ON!
