So this new guy from eharmony (the law school student) is great...I won't meet him until Friday (he is taking me out for my birthday) but he is so perfect so far!

You have a valid point and I have been keeping myself pretty detached--as much as I can.

Thanks--you and Steph do have a point...I do always give my friend A the profile link, cell phone #, and other info that I have obtained--it's something that she always makes me do, anytime I meet someone new.

The thing is, that when you have not met in person you develop a vision in your head - an imagination so to speak - and you have no idea what he is like in person. Of course he sounds good so far - but you have to meet to see if you like each other. I think you can share stories and see if you have things in common or a situation that makes sense - but then you have to meet. And it is always better if the meeting is short and simple - then see if you want more and he wants more later.

I would meet him - there is no way I would be stuck with a stranger coming to my house and then being stuck with him the whole evening for him to bring me back here. I would want to come and go as I please.

I have had a lot connect on paper and the phone - and then be not so good in person. What if he drinks a lot or appears high? What if he only wants one thing? There are too many variables.

Tell him you have some errands to run and you want to meet him at the restaurant. That way you have your OWN transportation and you do not have the "do we go in" episode at the end of your date. And you will look more respectable!!

Good point!! April, I know how excited you are about this date. But, remember that they need to do some of the work (meeting you or planning the date). You need to be screening THEM and make sure they are worthy of your time. Not in a snobbish way, but don't go with the feeling that "I can't believe someone actually actually asked ME out!" They need to prove themselves! They are the LUCKY ones to get to spend time with YOU!!

Yes!
I remember the article to men about dating single moms. It's about understanding that we don't get to be out there all the time due to our primary child care taking responsibilities, so when they do score a date with us they should realize we have taken it into consideration and our time is valuable!!
