Here's what happened on my date!

Ok. So we met in the city. My meeting was running late and I wasn't able to call him to let him know....he called me on my cell to say he was there waiting for me. I text messaged him that I was stuck but would call him as soon as I was out. (Thank God for technology) Anyway, I finally got out of my meeting and literally ran to meet up with him (I wore heels - My feet are paying for it now!) I almost didn't recognize him, but our eyes met and we both just smiled - we knew! We hugged. It was raining, he put up the umbrella and I held is arm and we walked to a restaurant. We chatted as if we didn't miss a beat. Ordered our food and laughed a lot. I felt very comfortable, but yet uncomfortable because I had no idea what was going to happen - you know? I was also a little concerned that he didn't ask any personal questions - like about my daughter, family etc. We did discuss our exes and from the sound of it the two of us have been burned bad. We didn't discuss our brief romance or our IM conversation and it is a good thing too cause I wouldn't be able to hide the blushing. The date was short cause I had a long bus ride home and a sitter to pay. He walked me to the bus station and waited till I had to board. He mentioned that I hadn't changed a bit in 12 years except that he thought I was thinner than I was in college. (I am - I gained a lot in college) He kissed me on the cheek and we hugged again. He asked me to call him when I got home so he knew I was safe.
I boarded the bus not feeling confident because I wasn't sure what he was thinking and of course I knew what I was thinking - I wanted to KISS HIM. LOL! Anyway I got home and I called him, I got his voicemail so I left a message: Hi, it's me, I just got home, I wanted to let you know I had a lot of fun tonight, and that it was great to see you again. Have a good night. I was just about to get into bed - my phone rang - It was him! He wanted to let me know he had a good time to and that he would like to call me again - my heart lifted with that! I went to sleep happy! And today - I got an e-card from him wishing me a Happy Mother's Day!!! Now we just have to wait and see!

Just got another email from him saying "Next time, dinner is on me" So I wrote back "Sounds great, just let me know when"
I AM LOVING THIS!
Your voice sounds very happy - and that is always good. The distance could be a deterrent or a good thing to keep you slow. If it is meant to be, it will be - and you should enjoy the journey.
That was nice that he sent a note saying he will treat for next time.
Keep us posted.
It all sounds great! He obviously likes you enough to have emailed you twice already and respects you also.
How far is he?
If we went from my place to his place - one way - is almost 2 hours.
BUT from my job to his job it takes a little over an hour.
I know it seems like a lot, but public transportation helps make the trip more mellow.
Hopefully he will feel the same way...you know that it isn't an issue...we'll see!
I think that a long distance relationship can be a deterrent over time - but where there is a will there is a way.
What is the reality of one of you being able to move in the end? Do you both have children/exs? Does his career keep him there?
Two hours isn't so bad, it sort of forces you to take things slowly. It may just take longer to really get to know one another.
I hope it works out for you. Sounds like it might!!
