Good question! I'm dreading gift giving this year just because my budget is so tight. But I will manage to get a few things for the closest family and friends in my life.
Lucky for me DD's grandma is getting her the thing she really has her heart set on..an American Girl doll. I just could not justify the price. Her dad is getting her some games and things. I bought her a bracelet, some books, and some arts and craft things.
I picked up some art jewelry from the local Art Walk in town. Very pretty and
Well, as I buried the idea in another thread, but here it is again: MA and I agreed to spend only $100 on each other - so as not to go crazy. This way we are buying a few small very thoughtful gifts and nothing big or fancy or expensive. So far I have a love letter tucked in a sugar jar, a high school picture of me, sports clothes for him, fun bubble bath/lotions/massager/candle bag from the mall bath store, and a remote control tarantula - that is a cheap gag gift because he used to have one for a pet and it was really cheap on the toy site I was shopping for my DS. I know he will have fun with that in his office because he loves to play pranks.
I have no idea if this will help - but it was fun personal things for him. We have only been dating since October so don't want to go too crazy.
I also think this is a good custom because if a lot of money is going to be spent I want a say in it!
One little word-EBAY!!! I got my daughter her Samantha American Girl doll plus a couple outfits for the doll on E-bay. I also got that gorgeous purple dress in the picture of D3 at the opera on E-Bay, less than half price. For M this year I've purchased (on EBay- see a trend here?) him a new pair of Uggs boots as he loves the totally worn out pair he now has. Of course I do this year round and am very disciplined about how much I bid on something. Got M's boots back in July. I also got M a very nice tie which will look stunning with his blue eyes (did not buy that on E-bay). I'm still keeping my eyes open for one more special thing- something small that will just say M to me.
Oh, and I pay for my EBay habit selling stuff on Ebay- like stuff my X gave me, stuff he left behind, D3's outgrown clothes, some toys my boys no longer have any interest in and too Boy for D3.
