How are your holiday parties going??? I've had several and several more to come....
I mentioned the first two and stated that I felt slightly depressed about not bringing a date. I got over that... My huge work party was this past friday. It was a BLAST!! It didn't bother me this time when people asked "did you come alone?".... My workplace hasn't had a real christmas party (outside the building) since 2000..... so it felt special to me.
A former reporter who left came... he posted a myspace bulletin that he was going to be in town... and I replied to him inviting him to the party. He commented that I looked nice and I got a picture with him. I took lots of pictures with everybody.
And sure, I flirted with the servers...lol... of course. The food was REALLY good and there was a cash bar. I mingled and joked with everyone and didnt feel like the lonely one in the corner....but also DID NOT dance on any tables... LOL (people are still talking about that) (I have about two more getogethers).

Oh darn- I was *hoping* for another Loony-on-the-table-dancing story!
WOW - what a splendid report - very strong and positive. I love your new picture!! Sounds like you are going along well - can't wait to hear the next 2 reports. :-)
The only holiday party I have left is in 2 hours at DS's school. Not exactly jazzy - but fun to see - since he is in middle school I know I only have a few of these left.
Way to go, Loony! I'm glad you went, and had a great time! Ugh on the fact that people had to ask if you "came alone"... why do people think that everyone just HAS to be paired up to be 'normal' or happy?? Maybe they ask because if you DID come with a date, they'd want to see who he was. But still... that question just seems so negative in its implication (or maybe I'm just jaded/cranky! lol). I'm glad it never phased you!
I've had 2 Christmas parties so far, and I'm pretty much done. I went with Hiker to his company's annual Christmas party/dinner a couple of weekends ago, and had a great time. I just need to teach him to dance, though! But it is always fun to see the antics of his coworkers. Hiker is so quiet and his coworkers can be such

Good question on why people ask.... yah, it's probably so they can meet your date if you brought one.... I think it was the atmosphere that added to me feeling okay about going alone... Meaning, it wasn't a sit down dinner... so I was able to mingle here and there.. and then many others showed up solo. At the previous party, for some reason I felt like EVERYONE came with a date but me... and it was sit down, so it felt so obvious that i was sitting alone.
I think I surprise people.. I talk about my kids all the time and I think people just assume I'm married. Do you get that??? And I have 5 kids which also surprises people... And I don't look old enough to have a 14 yr old and that surprises people, too...
On a bad day all that stuff bothers me...lol... But fortunately I have many more goods days and it doesn't bother me. I actually look at the positives now... I'm getting complimented on how young/good i look... and that i'm a joyful single.... and if someone says, wow you have your hands full, I feel blessed. My hands are full of joy, and fun family times.
It's all perspective.
Sounds like you had a couple fun parties too... I'm surprised I have the energy for all the events this time of year AND shopping, too.... oy.
