1. Real or artificial tree? Artificial. Yes, a real tree smells beautiful, but I did it once and swore never again- I was stepping on needles all year after!
2. What kind of ornaments? I have a set I bought when Nicolas was little, and I got a bunch of the ornaments I had when I was growing up. We bought some Spongebob ornaments, since both boys LOVE him!
3. When do you put it up and take it down? Well, my dad usually comes over to help us put it up and he's going out of town in Dec, so we'll have to put it up a little early this year, like the first weekend. Take it down for New Years.
4. Do you buy your gifts ahead of time or at the last minute? I don't buy for tons of people, just usually Nicolas, my neice, J and my mom and dad.
5. Your favorite holiday food? TURKEY TURKEY TURKEY!!!
6. Your favorite holiday song or movie? Fave song "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", fave Movie is the original Grinch cartoon.

Great Questions....
1. I used to put up a real tree untill 2 years ago when I went to the tree lot to buy one and it cost me just under 50 bucks. Since then I bought a beautiful artificial one that I use every year. I burn pine candals to get that real tree scent.
2. For ornaments I use white lights and silver and dark blue ornaments.
3. I usually put up the tree the weekend after Thankgiving and take it down on New Years day.
4. My favorite Holiday food is all the deserts, I can't pick just one.
5. Favorite Movie is White Christmas with Bing Crosby. It's not Christmas for me unless I watch that movie. Favorite Song would be Angels we have heard on high.

Artificial - easy care - and the price is right year after year. We can do it ourselves!

I have collected a lot of handmade ornaments from different places, including the Bloomies after-xmas sale. My favorites are the ones made by DS.

Usually right before TG and right after NY's eve.
4. Do you buy your gifts ahead of time or at the last minute?
Always ahead of time - I don't like the last minute rush.

COOKIES!!

The best movie for me would have to be the grinch. And for songs I always love Silent Night. My uncle gave me a holiday CD by Loreena McKennitt last year and I must say I am fond of her music.
1. WE have a nice easy fake tree with pre-strung lights
2. We have this great assortment of ornaments. All of them are toys, especially those miniture games they made into key chains a few years ago. Besides that we string gum drops, cranberries and popcorn. It is definelty a child's fantasy tree.
3. we put it up the first weekend in December like my parents used to, and take it down mid. January
4. I always buy my gifs ahead of time, on clearance. I get a bonus check for overtime hours in the middle of November, so all remaining gifts are purchased then.

A really beautiful artificial one, I used to do real-way too much work.

I have vintage ornaments from my childhood plus I won some really good
auctions on ebay. I have Disney, Dr. Seuss, Vintage Barbie;etc ornaments
and a lighted village and an Italian creche all great auction wins.
3. When do you put it up and take it down?
Usually up by the first week of December, and I take it down the day
after Reyes(3 Wise Kings Day) Jan 6th or 7th.

A combination of both, because I have soo many gifts to buy(big family)
I have to wait until time and money are availible.

Pernil(Roast Pork) a big Puerto Rican holiday tradition.

"It's a wonderful life" "The grinch that stole Christmas"

Bing Crosby's "White Christmas", Rocking around the Christmas Tree.
1. Artificial. I got tired of buying the live trees and having them die 2 weeks later!

3. I usually put it up the weekend after Turkey Day. I take it down sometime between Christmas Day and New Years. This year I am off that week, so shouldn't be a problem.
4. Both! I try to get most of it done a couple of weeks beforehand.
5. Fudge!
6. Favorite movie(s) are "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase and "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Favorite song is Silent Night.
I am so looking forward to the holidays this year. It's the first year since I divorced that I am not dreading them!

I really like that idea!! So cool for a kid - and I have never seen that before. Where did you get this idea?
And a fake tree with prestrung lights is brilliance. Do you have to put it together or does it fold up? Where did you find that?
