Has anyone seen this show? OMG! I thought I was living in filth with Shane and Dylan constantly cluttering up, but I saw this show and realized I have a very clean home. Sure we have some clutter that tends to always get picked up....by me, but I do scrub and sweep and mop almost daily. So I guess we're not so bad after all.

Girls, you should have SEEN this house that the women on the show cleaned. I would have vomited and then ran. FAST! It was disgusting. Actually disgusting was too kind. Cat feces on the floor, pee stains, filthy dishes in every room, and the smell, I can only imagine would put me over the edge. It was grody! But I got a lot out of the show. THings I never thought of cleaning with did wonders. Just mild soap and water does the job of strong smelling cleansers and Tide cleans silver. COOL! Lots of great hints too on how to eliminate clutter. THey say to put stuff in a box and label it. If after six months you haven't looked for those items, trash them. So I'm going thru my stuff and getting ready for a yard sale after it cools down. I have a Precious Moments Navy figurine that is discontinued that I will sell on Ebay. Not taking any chances on that one. Yard sale on that would get me about 2 bucks. I think not.

Who else has seen this show? It's hysterical!

I haven't seen the show, but that sounds DISGUSTING!!! I do like the show *clean sweep*, cause it just amazes me the amount of stuff people keep! I cannot imagine not using my living room for 10 years because there's so much stuff in it!

Oh me neither. I understand accumulating things. I know we do, but there comes a time to just let go, you know? I saw the "How Clean Is Your House" show on Lifetime and I can surely see why the house was so dirty. I mean there's no good excuse to allow it to get that bad, but the mom works full time, the husband and five kids do nothing to help her, so it just got worse as the days went by. After a while, you just tend to give up because you can't keep up. But after the show, they updated the family two weeks later and the house is still nice and clean. They even replaced their kitchen floor. They took the hints to heart and the kids even chip in and have their own chores to do because everyone was so impressed with living in a clean and nice-smelling home. You know, I can handle the "illusion of clean" if I must. A little dust doesn't bother me so much if it's not noticeable, but the clutter bugs me and that is what DOESN'T bother Shane. He throws his dirty clothes on the floor and then wonders where his socks are 4 days later. Still on the floor. I've given up on picking them up. My theory is...if it isn't in the hamper, it doesn't get washed. That also goes for the dry cleaning stuff. It has a separate hamper. It MUST be there to be taken to the cleaners. If it is on the floor or hung over a door, it will stay there. Not my responsibilty. Maybe this will cause my family to help me some.

I don't do housecleaning, except vaccuming and cleaning my bathroom, because for some strange reason I enjoy doing that. Otheriwse, I don't know how too. I start and only make it worse. Therefore my mother hates my mess and takes over and does it for me.

For instance: ironing, laundry, kitchen, mopping. and then I have a housekeeper that comes in every two weeks and dusts and cleans or throws away the major stuff and organizes. My oldest is like me, my youngest at age 3, cleans, but that is still a fascination for her. I believe she'll grow out of it before long.

My mom raised me when my parents still were married with housekeepers, cook and nanny, so after they got divorced, my mother felt I shouldn't start learning those things and kept on doing it. BAD IDEA!

I can do everything. I am competent, I just feel like I have a lot more going on and way to little time for my private life to start cleaning all day after myself and other people.

I know! I'M ASHAMED! a little. LOL

I meant to comment on this one.

My house is pretty clean - we have a "clean as you go" rule. The house is always picked up - no clutter.

I try to clean something every day so it never gets that overwhelming. And once a week I try to tackle something special. Last time it was to take the fridge apart. Today it was to really give my son's bathroom a deep cleaning.

But the floors did just go a month without vacuuming. I just kept using paper towels to spot clean. Well today it really needed a super cleaning!! I scrubbed it with a brush and then used towels on my feet to mop up the water. Got a workout in too!! This does wonders for the tile.

I haven't seen the show - I don't have cable and I don't watch much TV... but can I just add that getting rid of my ex husband did WONDERS for how clean my house is! Well, now it's a much smaller place but the point is still the same. When I was married there were always papers piled on the dining room table, toys everywhere, dishes piled up, stuff stacked in corners, closets buldging, clean laundry not put away - I could not stand to live like that now.

Hopefully my dd grows up noticing that although I don't do a ton of housework, in our home things are clean and stuff is put away, meanwhile in her dad's house things are strewn about and nothing appears organized. I want her to know that it doesn't take much effort to keep things nice looking. I grew up in a messy household and it took me to the age of 33 to 'get' it and start keeping things clean and orderly. Now I could never go back to the way I used to live, no way.

So true!!
....less laundry, less mess in the kitchen, less mess in the bathroom and I can find everything because no one touches my stuff!!
