It is hard not to get excited. Even IRL. I joined a class that's starting next month and I have these silly thoughts going through my head like "Oooo maybe I'll meet someone". I get myself worked up sometimes just going somewhere different. I'm kind of silly that way. Being my luck, it'll be a class with a bunch of yahoos in it or people a lot older than me. With OLD, just someone taking time to communicate is flattering to me.
How do you keep from getting too excited about someone? Uh, when you have been burned or disappointed enough times you will learn. OLD is alot of weeding out of jerks and guys that are incompatible.
Remember, you can be anybody you want to be online. Many times it doesn't transfer over to real life. Someone may seem great until you meet in person and there is no chemistry or their pics are not recent.
Don't rule out the other guys you are communicating with just because you like this one better. Keep your options OPEN! I used to do the same thing and would focus on the one I liked the best. Most of the time they would just ghost or there was no chemistry or a huge red flag was flying once we met.
I learned all of this the hard way and wish I would of had this board when I first divorced! Steph
Why not get excited? Enjoy the fun!!! Dating should be FUN!!!!
The only thing to remember is to not put all your eggs (and future) into this one person until a huge chunk of time has passed and he's proven over time that he can be trusted. But in the meantime, just take things lightly, enjoy things just for what they are (little things don't ALL have to MEAN some huge thing) and don't analyze too much!!! Pay attention to your deal-breakers... but don't over analyze to the point where you just don't enjoy the time.
Men are just people too. They are not knights to save or rescue you. They are not gods to worship. They are just people with penises. LOL
So enjoy them as people to discover and get to know... and if a relationship is going to develop, it will develop on its own, naturally. :-)
