Mine has had its ups and downs. The Masked Ball was a blast. Started with being greeted at the door by dancers and strolling violinists, handed a glass of champagne, then herded through to the patio bar area where we had an open bar and jugglers performing. Then we had fireworks, and finally the multi-course dinner with a different wine for each course. During dinner there were opera singers performing a few arias and then the dance band played some dinner music and eventually dance music. I was unable to sell my whole table so we had 2 couples we just met that night plus my 2 single mom friends at our table. M and I danced, and M also made a point of dancing with my friends who did not bring dates. M also convinced the young man at our table to take a whirl around the dance floor with my friend L who is big into ballroom dance. The older couple at our table were there celebrating their 28th anniversary. It was a total surprise for his wife, including a limo and a stay at a very nice, quaint local hotel. Is that guy a keeper or what? M and I ended the night at his place for some bedroom tango, I wandered home finally at 2am.
Pictures attached are:
1. The masks I made for myself and M
2. My dress, the one I bought in Paris
3. Close up of QB's hairdo, spent 4 hours at a spa salon getting a facial, hairdo and makeup

Today kind of sucked. My sewer line got clogged, horribly clogged, and I need to have it dug up so it can be fixed. Meanwhile, the master bath is full of effluent, ugggh!!! The problem is most likely from the remodeling. The guy who helped with the demo work didn't cover the drain when he knocked out the walls in the shower. Dust and debris most likely has been sitting in the trap and when the tile guy was working in there it must have gotten knocked loose and wound up in the sewer line. It is totally blocked. And I made this great dinner for my kids and M, but it was a bit discouraging to have the sewage smell wafting through the house.

Love the masks, Queen! Have you ever seen the Carnivale masks they make in Venice? It's quite a bash..I took some pics when I was in Venice, the masks are beautiful. So glad you had a nice time at the masked ball!
Great pics of the Murder Mystery, Mark. You look so cool.. Great costume! West...I am in LOVE with your puppy! OMG he is cute.
My weekend was good, relaxing..very nice. The weather here was beautiful, 60's and 70's, lots of sun. Blue Eyes is getting opver a cold so we did not over do anything. We saw the Bucket List....super great movie :o)...It was so great that Blue Eyes saw it, because he is a Cancer survivor and he could totally relate to the feelings of mortality looking you in the face....Saturday he was really out with his cold. I spent a really nice day with DD just doing girl stuff. Yesterday we got out for Disc Golf and that felt great. Then we watched the GreenBay/GIants game with friends.
All in All, nice weekend! :o)
I want to see "The Bucket List" too. On the date possibility list with M, just have to get our schedules back in synch.
And yes, I clean up pretty well from total soccer mom to society babe. At least I lost the critical 3 lbs to get the dress on. I've gained at least 10 lbs since I bought it. The dress has a short train which people kept stepping on so it has to go to the cleaners, not that I'll have another occasion to wear it. I'm hoping to get some copies of other people's pics, there were quite a few taken of M and I dancing. I think I'll set up a Snapfish group site for everyone to share. Some people came in elaborate costumes. I hope we made enough money on the event to do it again next year.
The bonfire party sounds fun. I like those kind of casual events, too. Nothing better on a crisp clear night.

The plumbers are here now. My house doesn't have a clean out. It probably has one somewhere, but no one can find it. So I'm finally having one put where one expects it to be, at the point the sewer line leaves the house towards the septic. Another piece to the plumbing, cable, electric sculpture on the side of my house. At least we can use the toilets again!
Glad your swim meet was fun. Always remember, it's the clock you are racing, not the person in the next lane. So if you got a decent time, you won! Are your pools indoor? I don't know if you remember, but here in AZ they are all outdoor so the winter swim meets can be cold. I remember one meet there was ice on the blocks! Poor kids. We had to get a team of folks to keep de-icing the blocks and the deck. There was so much steam I don't know how the officials could see the turns.
QueenBun, who seriously wants to sell her house for a small patio home, the upkeep is killing me
Actually, I made about a dozen masks which were sold to the public at the last Opera, and to our fellow party goers who did not come to the event with a mask. We had a committee of the crafty, arty types work in the costume shop of the Opera company to make masks to sell. They took two masks to NY and had them signed by big name singers- Placido Domingo was one. We live auctioned those and my friend L won the one signed by mezzo soprano Stephanie Blythe.
I also made a hair ornament to match my mask, but so far don't have a good picture of my hair from that side. You can see the pearls dangling behind my right ear in the pictures.

LOL! The event was a Carnevale in Venice theme. Yes, some people had actual Venetian masks and a couple men came in the traditional Venetian costume of white mask tri-corner hat and cape. I have a Venetian mask, but I wanted to make one of my own for this event. The mask I made is in the traditional style, out of paper mache. It has real pearls, sterling silver wire and shells, kind of a mermaid theme to go with the mermaid cut of my dress.
No kill-joys allowed for Bucket List. I really want to see that one.Don't tell me details!
QB
Sounds like quite the event Mark. Your costume was on the mark (pun intended).

OK...I won't spoil the movie! It's great though!!
I would love to go back to Venice during Carnivale. When were there in December, there were masks everywhere! I have
"We were given fake money to use for brides and such"
You do mean "bribes" don't ya? LOL!! Sorry - had to laugh - that is the cutest typo I have seen!!
Glad to hear you had fun and got to spend so much time with CG.
Now I can understand why you call yourself Queen Bun!
I'm late jumping in,
