How was everyone's weekend?

Mine has had its ups and downs. The Masked Ball was a blast. Started with being greeted at the door by dancers and strolling violinists, handed a glass of champagne, then herded through to the patio bar area where we had an open bar and jugglers performing. Then we had fireworks, and finally the multi-course dinner with a different wine for each course. During dinner there were opera singers performing a few arias and then the dance band played some dinner music and eventually dance music. I was unable to sell my whole table so we had 2 couples we just met that night plus my 2 single mom friends at our table. M and I danced, and M also made a point of dancing with my friends who did not bring dates. M also convinced the young man at our table to take a whirl around the dance floor with my friend L who is big into ballroom dance. The older couple at our table were there celebrating their 28th anniversary. It was a total surprise for his wife, including a limo and a stay at a very nice, quaint local hotel. Is that guy a keeper or what? M and I ended the night at his place for some bedroom tango, I wandered home finally at 2am.

Pictures attached are:
1. The masks I made for myself and M
2. My dress, the one I bought in Paris
3. Close up of QB's hairdo, spent 4 hours at a spa salon getting a facial, hairdo and makeup
4. My table group

Today kind of sucked. My sewer line got clogged, horribly clogged, and I need to have it dug up so it can be fixed. Meanwhile, the master bath is full of effluent, ugggh!!! The problem is most likely from the remodeling. The guy who helped with the demo work didn't cover the drain when he knocked out the walls in the shower. Dust and debris most likely has been sitting in the trap and when the tile guy was working in there it must have gotten knocked loose and wound up in the sewer line. It is totally blocked. And I made this great dinner for my kids and M, but it was a bit discouraging to have the sewage smell wafting through the house.

My bf just told me that he would in his spare time write his lines in advance to use them later and he actually also sold them to other kids who needed them. Oh crap right?
To prevent this, he suggested having them write new lines each time or for teenagers who are tuning you out anyhow, having them copy and rewrite the front page of the newspaper....my son is going to be in such trouble.
Or maybe he will be smart and stay out of it.
It is astonishing to me because my bf is such a goof in some ways and we laugh more and play more here than we ever have....apparently though when the times call for it, he is quite the disciplinarian.
I am of course surprised and delighted.

I'm very glad you wrote this, Mark. It has me thinking about how I respond when Blue Eyes compliments my body. I am so used to hating my body (I am average, but I come from a family of athletes and my body was critiqued and sort of scrutinized as I was growing up), every little dimple or curve I am self critical about. Blue Eye's ex wife was rail skinny and so was his last ex girl friend- Paper thin.

It's difficult for me to accept and really believe Blue Eye's compliments. He tells me he like that I look healthy and strong, (I've got hiking and bike rider's calves), rather than wispy and frail, and "breakable" as he describes overly thin women. So, when he caresses and compliments me, I acknowledge and tell him I appreciate the compliments. But I almost always say right after that something to him like I am working on this or that..trying to get more fit. As if I have to make an explanation and proof that I am wanting to improve...even though he has never ever even mentioned wanting me to. I also find myself scared to tell him just how self conscious I really am deep inside. It comes from my past, feeling like I have to explain my body type to my whole

Great idea, Mark. I love putting things in writing, too. My DD would really appreciate it if I would write such a thing for her. I tell her all the time, but written words are something she could keep :o)

I think I will send this to Blue Eyes, just to see him smile. Thanks for the inspiration!
