I know we have been doing a "wednesday woes" lately, but this week, how about an Excitement thread??
Tell us what you are excited about this week (or whatever that is coming up for you!)
-------------------------------------------
For me, I'm excited that I will get the kids back on Friday, after them being gone with their dad for just over a month! It'll be neat to be able to smush them and kiss them and tickle them again. It'll be cool having them around to do things with and go places with. Although I have TRULY enjoyed my Mommy break this month, I do miss them too. But I have to say, I needed that Mommy break after having them pretty much 24/7 the rest of the year. (I know Cat will understand that one!) But I am looking forward to getting back to trying to be the best Mom I can be. The last time I was with them, I felt like I was a bit frazzled and falling short on the good-Mom part. I'm hoping to improve on that.
I'm also excited that the new college semester is about to start up again! Which means I go back to work again- and again, while I've enjoyed the summer off, I'm looking forward to being back at work again and DOING something important with my time. I do love having a professional identity and don't like going without it.
I'm excited that Hiker is making plans to go to a football game of my old alumni university this fall! We did one game last fall and had a great time... and now he's wanting to do it again! :-)
Speaking of football... I'm THRILLED that football is starting back up this week! I don't even care if it's pre-season and probably boring- I'm just glad SOMETHING is back that I can enjoy watching, sports-wise! lol It's been a loooong slow summer without the NBA or NFL to keep me entertained. ;-) Goooo Cowboys!!!!! hehe
I'm sure I can think of more if I kept on typing, but those are the main things right now.

I am counting my blessings today because my son lives in Brooklyn and they had a unheard of Tornado today! Thank God he and his wife and my precious gs are all doing fine. It's so scary that just a block away from them was destruction and their block was untouched. We had minimal damage here just a couple of fallen trees.
I finally got my couch loving butt in gear today and went out in the world after 5 consecutive days of being at home. I even got a call from a recruiter for a good sounding
job. I may interview on Friday, but I'm not getting my hopes up as I've had them crushed before, still the call gave me a badly needed shot of hope.
I am in a major battle to combat depression right now, so any little thing that lifts my spirits is appreciated. I will see my other darling gs tomorrow and the grandbabies always lift my spirits.
great thread!!!
I am excited about so much I'm bursting.
I had a wonderful, relaxing extended weekend away with family and am still riding the mellow of that.
I'm negotiating a job offer that I reall would like to work out. But also feel if it doesn't, I've got some other good irons in the fire.
My new apartment will be ready at the end of the month and it puts the kids in an awesome school!
The kids are having a great summer and are thrilled about our new place. We looked at a few places together and they really felt part of the decision making process. After everything they've been through, It was nice to allow them to have some say and control over their lives (age appropriate, of course).
Lots of new stuff going on.
Mostly, for the first time in many months, I am not scared of my life, I'm taking control and making it what I want it to be. Ghandi said "Be the change you want to see in the world" and I am doing that on a very personal level.
My relationship with New Guy is going well. We had a long talk - one of the big ones. We've been seeing each other for a few months and have decided we are ready to see no one else. We've been taking it very slowly and are going to continue to do that but on an exclusive level. We'll see where it goes but I'm for the first time in a long time, just taking a relationship in the moment and not thinking about the future.
Sending out lots of positive thoughts to everyone. I know some people are struggling (we've all got those times), so I wish I could share some of my good fortune of late, just know I'm thinking about you all.
My last gf is a Nurse Practitioner. She has a M.S. which I thought was needed in order to be a N.P. Maybe that's only in Oregon?

Thanks for the well wishes. I want to clarify. NONE of those outings I consider as a date. I define a date to be an encounter with romantic intentions. I see each one of those as friend meetings.
The woman off MySpace I was suppose to meet today but had to postpone because of work is moving to Hawaii so this is just a curiosity meeting on my part.
The woman who models and will be meeting tomorrow for the park concert is still dealing with her grief from losing her new born daughter and then her husband divorcing her 9 months ago because she could not get "over it." On top of that I think she is much younger than me and a little taller.
Sunday is my Zoo concert with this babe woman whom I met off MySpace but we're "just friends" plus she is seeing a married man.
So all those are not dates for I see none as romantic partners. It's just nice to get out with attractive women whom I can share an activity that I enjoy.

Hey Mark - It's too bad I don't live closer to you...I would love to hang out with a fun loving man just as friends! I thought I had one of those kinds of friendships and then he made it clear that he was thinking of me in a romantic capacity.... I don't share those feelings and now do not feel I can spend time with him without falsely building up his hopes.
You sound like someone who loves to get out and do lots of new and fun activities. Good luck with the Bike ride! Let us know how it goes!.
I love the positive spin on this thread....
Having said that I prefer to look at my life as "half-full"....things are going well for me
1) My daughters have settled in very well in our new home and neighbourhood. They love it. They have made friends very quickly and are hardly ever parked in front of the TV.
2) My 5 yr old was accpeted to the school that I wanted her to go to despite being told it would be almost impossible
3) Things are FINALLY going well at the job that I have been at for nearly 2 yrs. People have actually started accepting me ...it has been a long, hard road and hopefully worth it in the end.
4) Things with Kazoo are wonderful. In the past two weeks he has told one of his closest friend's about me and also introduced me to his entire family. Unfortunately I cannot reciprocate for another couple of months while I let the dust settle from my separation.
5) Kazoo gave me the keys to his cottage for the weekend so my girls and another friend and I are going to get to enjoy a fun, inexpensive weekend at the lake!
6) I am finally starting to get a little organized in my new home - lots left to do...lots left to buy/replace but I am confident we'll get there.... ;-)
Rose - a very happy and contented lady.....
