did anyone else actually try to light their candy cigarettes? What about those things you blew up, kind of looked like big marshmallows, put on your hands and beat the snot out of eachother?
I have been reading this post and traveling down memory lane with everyone else.
One childhood memory that comes to my mind and that is when my dad, who was a farmer, would set the wheat field stubble on fire after harvest. My brother and I would sit on the tailgate of the truck with our legs dangling watching the tire that had been set on fire and was connected with a long chain behind the truck while dad drove around lighting the field. We had so much fun and would be covered with soot! Can you imagine what child services would say about that nowadays.
And PacSun, I can relate on the homemade clothes. From the picture, which is so adorable, your mother had taste. My mom's taste wasn't that great. I swear, she would get the ugliest material. I know now that it was probably the cheapest and with 6 kids she had to pinch her pennies. I thought I was something if I got a store bought dress.
HAHAHAHA!!! Was it polyester? That seemed to be my mom's favorite material. And to this day I will not wear pants with an elastic wasteband not unless they're sweat pants.
OMG...had one of the floor lenght dresses with a mouse on the hem wearing a patchwork dress...TOOOOO FUNNY!!! One of my favorite pics from my childhood is with my mom and shes SUPER skinny in CRAZY A$$ bellbottoms with these HUGE brown clogs and an organge tanktop and she was bra-less with this long hippy hair. I still give her a punch of crap over it asking "just tell me you werent one of those dirty hippy types" She assures me no..she was one of the ones that shaved...I like to believe what she tells me really....but then id like to believe she was ONE of the sober people who attended woodstock ....
TV Dinners...on a TV stand...before you knew what was REALLY in them LOL
Perms....my mom had my hair done to look like Rosanne Rosanna Danna....HAVE THE PIC TO PROVE IT...still hate her for that one even though she says it was not intentional
When velour was a fashion statement...cappezio shoes
