I have a date on Friday

I feel like I have not typed those words in like forever. Okay girls - here is the scoop.

This one is KarateMan. We met on EH back in January. He was my first match and I sent him the questions and he answered them and we emailed back and forth a bit. He was having knee surgery for an injury he had in karate. And he did ask for my phone number - but then never called. So I closed him - yes he is in the pile with the 600 others - LOL!!

And the other day on match I saw him - and so got a bit frisky and sent this note - "how is your knee?" Didn't write anything else. He did recognize me and said wow you have these new pictures I almost didn't recognize you!

So we started emailing just chit chat. He was really impressed that I would do an Ironman - And he was asking me about my race and I was asking him about his karate - he is getting a new belt and is quite happy that his knee is better and good enough to get the training done for his next test. Then he asked for my number.

So, today he calls. We talked for like 2.5 hours. He surprised me when he called because he is very positive and upbeat. He said what are you doing? And I said filling the pool. So he asked if it is one of those plastic pools or a real one - and I explained it is a real one. Then he wanted to know if I am one of those girls who is super handy!! LOL!! He was teasing me and said he is doing laundry and cooking dinner. I explained that I do love to take care of the pool but am not always that handy. I had cleaned the filter system and apparently did not put it back together correctly and so we lost quite a few gallons in one day. But just fixed it and have to fill it. He says he loves to clean his house and do the yard and stuff but is not that handy.

So then we talked about our work, and on and on about how we grew up and how we both like to eat healthy and exercise. I don't know -we were just talking a lot. He asked a lot about DS and said he used to love football when he was a boy so is glad I am letting DS play that. He grew up in a family of 6 kids! 5 boys and 1 girl. Everyone in his family is married with no divorces except for his.

OH - and he explained that he doesn't like dating all that much and that he really felt bad with his knee so took a break and that is why we had the gap. He explained that none of his family understands how dating can be so hard and none of them have heard of the internet dating thing. Little does he know I would NEVER tell my family such a thing - they would worry that I would get kidnapped and think I have lost my loop or something. I explained that I understand because when you get older you get all kinds of quirky things you like or don't like and it is hard to find someone attractive with common interests. I explained that I do not want to get on a Harley with someone who is 50!! And he laughed at that.

So then I said I had to go because it is past time for dinner.

So, he said what are my plans for this weekend and I said it is clear because DS is going away and my coach gave me time off. So we are going to meet for a drink on Friday night - he wants to come near me and we decided on a good place that has outdoor music. But we can talk tomorrow or Friday.

AND guess what? The YachtEngineer is back and writing as well.

So, I will keep you posted!
