In two weeks I am traveling up to New Jersey to visit DD14 at camp and then to Connecticut where I used to live.

Well, I wouldn't try that. But, that is me. You are an out of towner surfing match for a date. There is no telling who you will find. From a safety standpoint I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. Also, in my experience things just don't go well when you are the one doing the chasing. There is a good chance that someone might think you are just looking for a one night stand. Also, don't ever forget that you can be anybody you want to be online. So be very careful if you decide to do this.

I don't know - my first reaction is that is like going on the used car lot and saying you want to test drive but not buy - you are going to subject yourself to someone thinking they can still sell you a car. Because if I was a guy - why would I want to pay for a date that is not going to be there? I get irritated and delete a message when a guy says he is just in town and wants a date - I am like - why bother, is it safe, and no I don't want to have a fling. But that is just me.

Now, maybe you can devote a little more time to OLD in your area - working on the profile, shopping for new clothes and getting your picture taken - or having hair and makeup done and getting picture taken - and stuff like that?

Just my .02. Maybe others think more of just have fun or they have done that and see no problem? That is what is good about our board - always a lot of expertise - and maybe I will learn something new!!

Have fun on your trip regardless!

I have to agree with the other posters that this isn't something I would do - mostly because of the safety issue.
