The floor is sanded!!!! Saturday a.m. got to the rental place to pick up the floor sander and it had not been returned yet and I had to wait like 3 1/2 hours to get it. I live like 20 minutes away. Ended up going to my sisters and visiting with her (hadn't seen her in a while) so I took that as a sign from above that we needed to visit in person. Got home with it and my daughter had went to her friends house KNOWING she HAD to be there to help me get it in the house and up the stairs. It weighs like 130 lbs. Had to go get her and we managed to get it up there. To say the least I did not start on it Saturday, but Sunday morning, got up bright and early and hit it hard. Finished a few spots up today with a hand sander which I purchased at Lowe's this morning. I'm disappointed that it didn't go a lot faster than what I wanted it to. I still have to vaccuum more. Already been over it like 3 times already. But for the polyurethane to adhere well it has to be clean clean!
Throughout my ordeal, when in public, I made it a point to look very presentable. But alas, found out the owner of the rental place is married so that was no go. Had a conversation with one of the employees there, but he knew I was not the happiest person having to wait on the sander (they told me it would be there ready for me at 8:00). He was nice but quite a bit older and probably married...didn't get that far in the conversation. In Lowes, as was expected GOMERS and old farts!
What can I say, hanging out in Lowe's and machine rental places, this is what I like to do and as Moody posted in another post, I'm going to keep enjoying what I like to do and maybe someday someone will come along.
One funny thing...I came downstairs at one point and needed to use the little girl's room...looked in the mirror and had dust all in my lip hair...definitely need to go have my lip waxed! I was just glad I didn't have to go out in public on an emergency or something because I sure wouldn't have thought of that.
So that was my exciting 3-day weekend ladies. I am defintely taking some Alleve before bedtime tonight.

You were busy, that's for sure! I think it's a wonderful thing that you can do all of this yourself- until I was divorced, I pretty much thought I was helpless at anything constructive.
Being forced to tackle some things without help showed me that I am capable, and that was a huge confidence booster on its own.
Good for you, I'm sure the room will look amazing when you'r done.
Moody, who hasn't ever sanded a floor

Woohooo Emma! What a big project you tackled! And survived to tell about it! Especially the part about lugging the heavy thing up the stairs! I bet that wasn't easy! Way to go!
And here I'm sore on one side from bowling on Saturday. lol
~shrimpy, who's never sanded a floor either- except for dumping out a beach bag in the dining room... whoops!
