Only a man would think of proposing with an engagement ring in a helium baloon--can't believe he spent so much money and watched it float into the air!!

Engagement ring gone with the wind

LONDON (Reuters) - It is the one moment every man wants to get right -- and which London floor-fitter Lefkos Hajji could hardly have got more wrong.

The luckless 28 year-old's dreams of giving his sweetheart, Leanne, 26, the ultimate proposal have literally vanished into thin air.

Hajji, of Hackney, east London, had concealed a 6,000-pound (that's about $12,000us) engagement ring inside a helium balloon. The idea was that she would pop the balloon as he popped the question.

But as he left the shop, a gust of wind pulled the balloon from his hand and he watched the ring -- and quite possibly the affections of his girlfriend -- sailing away over the rooftops.

"I couldn't believe it," he told The Sun newspaper.

"I just watched as it went further and further into the air.

"I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me."

Hajji spent two hours in his car trying to chase and find the balloon, without success.

"I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question," he said.

"But I had to tell her the story -- she went absolutely mad. Now she is refusing to speak to me until I get her a new ring."

He is hoping the ring will still turn up.

"It would be amazing if someone found it," he added

That IS hilarious! But I can't believe the girlfried got so mad...it wasn't his fault! I would have been touched and felt sorry for him. It could have been some kind of long term inside joke or something! Sheesh, she should lignen up and and be happy he thought of the idea!

Poor guy- hope someone finds it and turns it in!

I think it is crazy that she got so mad too--I mean really,

1. he was planning to propose which is awesome (at least from my standpoint--I have only been proposed to on 2 ocassions and they were both very weird strangers!)

2. he spent that kind of money on a ring (which is crazy)--let the guy at least dream about getting it back for a bit!

3.

ROFLMAO...this reminds me of when I was working at the Seal Rehab Center and we got a call that they were releasing balloons on the beach (balloons are really bad for the environment especially marine life, Sea Turtles especially. They will eat them and plastic bags when they find them floating on top of the water and they get stuck in their digestive track and they can suffocate, become impacted...really horrible slow death...ok enough of the science lesson) So anyway they are releasing balloons so we go down to 'educate' the crowd and here they are sending up a relatives ashes in hopes that they would be carried away on a breeze and eventually drop into the ocean...only the direction of the wind changed and they were blown inland....ewwwwww Imagine being on a picnic and having something sprinkle down on you and his name was Harvey...EWWWWWWWW

Totally true! I swear I couldnt make this stuff up!!!
