I, Wanna Talk about Number One, Oh My....
Guess what?! I'm soooo excited!!!! Today, I bought myself a tenor saxophone! I have played the sax since I was about 7, and I haven't ever had one of my own. I used the school's, then I used a friends, and I've always wanted my own, but never had the money, or the time, or whatever.
A few years ago, I seriously looked into getting one, but I just couldn't swing it financially, and thought I'd never have the opportunity to play it, which made it so I couldn't justify the purchase.
Today, I was "just looking" on EBay, and the perfect sax screamed "BUY ME"...she's silver, with gold plated keys, and just... gorgeous. I was hesitant to buy a used one, but this one's brand-spanking new, with a hard case, and it was a GREAT deal.
Did I mention I was excited?! I'll get her in about a week, and between now and then, I have to go buy some reeds, a new book, since it's been about a year since I've touched a sax, and 3 years since I seriously played. Then I need to find sheet music for the songs I'm interested in learning.
Yay!!!!
The best part of all of this is the fact that I did it purely for the joy of it, I didn't have to, no one told me I should, and I just simply wanted to. No one helped me, no one offered their opinions, and I'm so stinkin' HAPPY with my own decision, I could just BURST!!!!

OHH MOODY!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I felt the same way when I bought my first convertable!! You're post brought a total gleeful giggle to me! :)
It was waiting for you! :)
Enjoy!
Lisa
LOL! That's AWESOME!!!
It just feels great to do something for yourself, doesn't it?
Thanks, everyone! I still am excited, although not quite so hyper, LOL! I was totally euphoirc yesterday.
I fully expected "buyer's remorse" to set in today, and I was expecting to feel really guilty for making such an extravagant purchase for myself, but you know what? I don't feel even the slightest bit guilty.
I did get a great deal, and I will play regularly, even if it's just for my own enjoyment. I can also teach the kids to play, (if I ever get over it being "my baby")so I'll get my money's worth out of it, and it'll last me forever.
But, my friends with the band called me yesterday, before I even had the chance to tell them about it, and asked me how hard it would be for me to find a sax... is that meant to be, or what?! Seems I might be playing a few songs with them, so how great would that be?
Anyhow, I'm still excited, and counting down til Tuesday! I got the reeds and a couple of books last night, and I'm still researching some sheet music, but I'll probably hold off on that until I actually have the sax in my hands. No sense completely putting the cart before the horse! ;-)
