My friend and I were troop leaders of our dd's troop for 4 years. Every year I borrowed my uncle's pickup truck and filled the bed of it with boxes and boxes of cookies. I was the cookie person that got all the girls orders sorted out and stuff. To say the least, after 4 years, I'm a little burned out on GS cookies.
What little they make off of each box is ridiculous. Also, it seemed that the size of the cookies got smaller I swear every year. After 4 years, the girls in the troop were starting to get into other activities and trying to get everyone together was almost impossible. They (not us) decided to disband. Before disbanning the troop, we got the girls together, told them how much money they had and let them plan a trip. They had a blast. What little was left over they decided to donate to our local chapter cancer society. I thought that was awesome. In the end, the council did not get one cent out of our girls as it was all spent on them and the donation.
They're $4.00 here...and I grudgingly sold them for DD here to co-workers. Yep, I catered to the madness. Only so DD could get that damn plush beanie puppy and she needed 200 boxes sold. Ugh, now I feel nausious after reading how the profits mostly go to "the man" or in this case, some millionaire CEO woman. Sigh.

Well, I'm glad to have the Girl Scouts redeemed because DD is supposed to finally get her boxes of cookies to sell tomorrow.
OMG, Soonee, I couldn't agree more!

Ahhh, but see, the council takes their cut BEFORE giving it to the girls.
This year, a box of cookies costs $3.50, and the troop keeps 55 cents.
