I always say short and sweet. Maybe you can go there for few days? Or stay in the hotel. That would be a bit much to be in a house with another family you have not met for so long.
Oh wow- congrats on him wanting to take you home to meet the family/parents!!!!
But oy... a whole week?!? That's a bit too long, IMO. Even when I was married and family with my in-laws... a week-long visit was too long and we never stayed that long. Plus, there were times when we would just stay in a hotel for the 3 days instead of their house because it was going to be too crowded. So I don't think a hotel is too much to ask for (though it might COST alot), for a stay that is going to be that long. I wouldn't be able to stay in someone else's house through the holidays for that long! But that's just me... and I like my space.
I just did this over Thanksgiving, meeting the BF's folks. I agree with West and Shrimpy, 2-3 days with family, then do some things on your own and stay elsewhere. I am grateful M was able to have us stay at a neighbor's rather than with his parents. They live in a retirement community and the place is small. Their neighbor offered to have us stay in their place while they were out of town for the holiday. After two nights there we moved to a hotel in Orlando and went out with his cousin and his cousin's wife. Being with the whole family for a week may be a bit overwhelming for you.
