Cuz I didn't know this before......I must have missed the memo on that one!

We put an offer on a really great house this weekend. (Friday night) And we offered full price, but asked that the house be professionally cleaned, and we asked for the Freezer in the Garage, AND we asked for a 35 day close (I need to sell my house)

The Freezer is in a cubby that was built FOR this particular freezer, it has fans in the cubby to cool the area around the freezer.

OMG - this is the craziest story.

Well - I guess there are two ways to look at this house:

- you will have to pass because the owner is so abominable.
- maybe you found something lucky that no one else would deal with and you can just pay the price and then pay a team to clean it - and don't worry about the freezer

I think I could deal with the cleaning and lack of freezer - but not the 35 day close.

Maybe this dodo has to have his house on the market for 9 months so he becomes a little more negotiable.

Good luck and keep us posted. You could always counter a counter offer - I would do that if I really wanted it!! What does your realtor say? Do you really like it?

The thirtyfive day close is the only sticky one.

Hi Kim,

Yeah, I've been there....and yes the Middle Eastern Men are morons....the big problem is that you were a woman making the offer. And if your agent is female, all the worse.

Please do yourself a favor and walk on this one, for now. It will not sell if it is really that much of a mess.

The biggest mistake you made was not to low-ball this guy. Middle Easterner's haggle about EVERYTHING, including how much they will pay for there wives. I've seen them haggle over the price of postage at the post office before!

If the house is on the market in 3 weeks, go back and offer $45,000 less than asking and ask for all the stuff. You'll be surprised at the result.

I agree with Brian. Take his advice. I used to teach English as a Second Language. Many of my students were adult males from the Middle East. I could not be nice to them at all. One of them would disrespect me and speak Arabic during class time. One day, I had enough of it and threw him out of class for the rest of the day. He came back to class the next day and APOLOGIZED. I didn't have any more problems out of him.

You have to be tough. If you can't be tough enough with this seller, I'd find a different house.

So this really is typical of them?

Kim, wouldn't it be great if you COULD just "Swoop in" in a month or so, with the same offer, and take the house then?

I agree. Wait it out. If it's still there in a few weeks, and you haven't fallen in love with something else, I'd make another offer.
