I suppose that could be "parent moment" for the sake of our dads, too.
This morning I got up to go to the pool - 5:45AM. On "pool mornings" DS has to get up himself with his alarm clock, shower and get ready for school, make breakfast and take care of the dogs.
At 6AM I was getting ready to leave and was going to wake him up to say goodbye - but he wasn't in his room. He was in the shower with the dogs in the bathroom, too. He was talking and as I listened, I discovered he was reciting this really long poem he has to deliver in English class today. And I had this pang - OMG - he is getting BIG!! He didn't need me to get him up or practice his homework. And the dogs were his audience. So, I said goodbye and hurried off to swimming. When I got back the whole lot of them were ready to go, so off to school we went! It is good he is self sufficient - but in a way it is a sad milestone!
I bet everyone has these - share!!

I've been having parent moments lately with my oldest and choosing a High School with her. We have lottery options, so we have been viewing the schools. Right now it's first option Military School, second Science School and third is the arts school if denied everything else. However, she'll get either 1 or 2. Choice 3 was just to put it in. Last night she was trying different updo's for the military school and she just looked so much older suddenly. A pang in the heart!
Nina is still the little one, so I haven't really noticed too much, but I guess everyday seeing her read better and doing more things on her own are pang moments.
I get these moments all the time.
I love that story of your son!
My daughter had to take
April
Well... there is a compromise.
Very glad to see the update.
I feel guilty has heck about it.
Rebecca, Mom to Averey, 2/8/00, Kibo, Sana & Zuri too!
My mom once said to me that she wished that we got a notification by mail when interactions were coming to a close like
" this is your last week of cooperative handholding in public. Live it up!"
"this is the last week your child needs help buttoning her coat. Enjoy!"
etc etc
I would appreciate those I think! It is so hard not to take these little things for granted and then suddenly they are grown!
