But mommy, it is RED

Okay - kids can do the cutest and darndest things.

If you have been following my posts, you will know that we have 2 puppies who turned into huge adorable dogs. I mean, this is probably the closest I will ever get to having twins!! And I am sure that we are at about 50% of the mess and ruckus. Which is quite a bit. My hat is off to anyone who has lived through them.

So, this morning I find a stack of papers on my desk. It is a printout of the website from where we got our dogs, with a #324 circled. An adorable red girl puppy.

My son circled the picture and wrote "please!" - and he says but she is red and that would be perfect for valentine's day. Now, I must admit he has good taste because she was truly the most beautiful, fat, cute puppy of the bunch.

But oh dear!! I look at that face and I melt for a minute. And then I think of months of sleepless nights, potty stops every 20 minutes, accidents galore and the site of three dogs chasing each other and romping through the house. I am sure there would be a few more pairs of $30 shoes chewed up somewhere, too.

So, we are going to have to find something else "red" for VDay!!

If you have kid or Vday stories to share - we would all love to hear!!

I think you should get the puppy.

Really, I do!

Training two puppies that turn into large dogs at the same time takes an enormous amount of effort.

Another puppy wouldn't be that hard, since your other dogs could "train" her.

I am so sick of all the valentine's Day crapola- our town totally goes beserk. You know how lots of little town put up street light decorations and might have the town square decorated for Christmas? My town does that for Valentine's, too. Everywhere I go, little red and pink hearts, lit up cupids, the town square's gazebo is completely covered in the sickening crap- there are more Valentine's decorations on all of the houses and in the town than there were for Christmas. And don't even get me started on all of the commercial things about this so-called holiday!

I call this "National Singles Awareness Month"-my voicemail greeting is always changed the last two weeks of January and the first two of February to say "hi, it's Moody, I'm busy celebrating National Singles Awareness Month, but you can leave me a message and I'll call you back when I've recovered from the pink and red explosion." I think it's worse since for the past two years I have been single- but I think the only thing this holiday does is make singles more aware of the fact that they're single. People in happy relationships shouldn't need a special day to remember they're happy with their SO- they should remember it every day. The rest of us have to gag everytime we see something pink and heartsy-cutesy, and I'm so tired of it!

<> the only celebrating I usually do is get some chocolates for the kids, which is a rare treat, and buy my two best girlfriends flowers, something we've done for years.

Moody, who does not think love is in the air

You have no idea how much I agree. The holiday season is just too much to bear when you are single. Thanksgiving is usually okay. But after that comes a rapid onslaught of Xmas, my birthday and then Vday. As long as I have my son with me it is okay. But I have not had him for Xmas this year and his dad is actually taking him away on my Bday. I have no idea what Vday will bring - but maybe it will be me and my dogs celebrating?

Vday stuff does bring a bad feeling for those of us who have been single a long time - and especially when you are a single parent.

HUGS, Moody, and everyone!!

Well, its not a V-day story, but its a kid one.

DD (6) asked me the other day: "Mommy, do ALL boys wear boxer shorts?"

You are a bad girl!! LOL!!!

Okay - one thing is the SIZE of these two - I mean, one dear dog has reached 80 pounds. Do you have any idea how much food and poop that entails? And when I am walking them, the two of them outweigh ME!!

The other day I had quite a scare - a skateboard came up from behind us and spooked them and they took off. The three of us had been running at a good pace for 45 minutes. I felt like I was on a runaway horse - and it took me a minute to regain control.

Their run distance is up to 6.2 miles but we have to have a cool day for that.

I think it is great she knows all about how a baby is born!! I am so surprised that she didn't figure out about the seeds!! Good side step on that one.

One day we were driving past a field of cattle - they are always in that field. But this time there were all these cute babies romping around. DS asks me HOW they got there. So I used that opportunity to tell him about the birds and bees. The come out of the mama's belly just like you did. OH! Well how do they get in the belly? I said the daddy plants a seed. Luckily he never asked for more than that.
