But mommy, it is RED

Okay - kids can do the cutest and darndest things.

If you have been following my posts, you will know that we have 2 puppies who turned into huge adorable dogs. I mean, this is probably the closest I will ever get to having twins!! And I am sure that we are at about 50% of the mess and ruckus. Which is quite a bit. My hat is off to anyone who has lived through them.

So, this morning I find a stack of papers on my desk. It is a printout of the website from where we got our dogs, with a #324 circled. An adorable red girl puppy.

My son circled the picture and wrote "please!" - and he says but she is red and that would be perfect for valentine's day. Now, I must admit he has good taste because she was truly the most beautiful, fat, cute puppy of the bunch.

But oh dear!! I look at that face and I melt for a minute. And then I think of months of sleepless nights, potty stops every 20 minutes, accidents galore and the site of three dogs chasing each other and romping through the house. I am sure there would be a few more pairs of $30 shoes chewed up somewhere, too.

So, we are going to have to find something else "red" for VDay!!

If you have kid or Vday stories to share - we would all love to hear!!

Very, very cute. But seriously, tempting as it is, haven't you got enough on your plate?

My most memorable Valentine's Day ever was 1998. My exh was away on a business trip and my parents had come to stay as he was gone for a month. I was 7 months pregnant. I have no idea why we thought it was a good idea, but I went out for dinner with my folks, with my huge preggy tummy, to a restaurant full of sickly sweet, smug Valentine's Day-celebrating couples. Did I stick out like a sore thumb? Er, yeah. LOL.

I can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible!!

You know Alison, the great thing about having a son is that it is a built in date for any night of the week. Dress him up and take him out. If you count how many more times you can do that before he goes away to college, it is frighteningly few. And you know, you could have a LOT worse dates than him. I love going out to eat with my son and try to look at it that way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Mine is today - turned 45 overnight - how about that?

My dad asked me if I feel older - and I said NO - I have never been so fit. I am aging up to a new athletic group - the 45 to 49 year olds so I am going to have a great year. The competition just got easier!! LOL!! He said that is a great attitude. I think so, too!

R- ROLFMAO!! This reminded me of when my girlfriend was pregnant with her first. She was very pregnant, and Droid was about 5. He said to me, completely out of the blue, "Mom, do they make really long gloves?" I had NO idea what he was talking about, so I said, "long gloves for what?" his response will always crack me up- "Well, won't the doctor need really long gloves to pull the baby out of LeiAnne's throat? or will he just get spit on his hand?" Oh, my god!
So I said, "Droid, the doctor won't pull the baby out of her throat." He says, "Oh. well, how does the baby get out?"
my response,"how do YOU think the baby gets out?" Him: "I'll have to think about it, i guess. can we play legos?"
We played legos.
Now that he's 8 and has since seen the same girlfriend have another baby, as well as another friend of mine, and now his step-mother's pregnant, he gets the general idea. I'm just glad he isn't asking me! I'm all for being honest, but there are some things I don't need him to know just yet!

Moody, still laughing

Alison, mine is a couple of weeks after, and I'm so sorry that you have to endure that!
Doing something fun with Nic sounds like a great idea!

Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb.... back in the early 1990's, an 60-something GF of mine suggested my DH and I join her
