My eharmony hilarity

Okay girls - 200 are in the trash. LOL!! But seriously - they are there because I am picky and found something major - like one who I saw on match who lied about his age, another I was able to google and determine he has only been divorced for 4 months (who is a pyschologist and indicates he wants someone emotionally healthy - imagine THAT! LOL!!) and on and on.

And I am having fun by myself. Generally not in a rush - just want to be proactive to get out there and look - especially when I see the lack of men in my age group in a bar and generally don't like the bar scene except to go out with my alumni friends.

I have a date coming up with MtEverest this weekend - we will go kayaking. He is away on a business trip after taking his son camping and I employed a bit of humor in our text messages. He is in Nevada right now - so I said if you win money in Vegas you can take me to Mt. Lemmon for dinner. He said what is that? I said, a mountain! He says you are very funny I know that - but where? So I said - Tucson - 10K feet - have done that one without oxygen. Okay so I have a sense of humor and he likes that - says he would love to see me this weekend.

And one guy wrote with the most hilarious intro I have ever heard - he says "do you mind if I am from the witness protection program?" (he is kidding - that must be lawyer humor) and to that I replied, oh WOW - witness protection program -we have THAT in common! LOL!! - and then I answered his questions which were rather serious but about me so that is okay. I said I love my life it is happy and I am good at keeping it that way.

I find the guys on eharmony to be rather serious about wanting to find the one and that is refreshing.

There are a couple more writing - but nothing to report yet - one is kind of cute and the other one may be too short - he is 1 inch shorter than me and that gives me the heebie jeebies but I am trying to keep an open mind.

Otherwise the day is going well - I creamed the guys in the pool on our 100s with the kickboard. The big dog almost threw up on the rug and so I did the big dash to save it. Score!! Work is getting done around here so that is good too.

"another I was able to google and determine he has only been divorced for 4 months "

So what web site did you find through google for that? Every place I've ever seen online,

Shrimps, I think the public records are a lot better in her state than ours!

Okay - here is how the google assignment went. He says he is a child pyschologist in my city and gives his first name. So, I googled first name + child psychologist + my town and bingo he has his own site with his picture and full name. Then I searched property records and then the court records. The court records here show everything. The reason I do that is because I dated a guy who went back to his exwife - it is a long story - but my gut says they were never divorced and I don't want to repeat that experience plus you can never be too safe when you have so much at stake as we single moms. I have found DUIs, domestic violence and other such info on people I have met online or have known in real life.

As for the other 200 - there really are that many in the trash and I have 14 prospects. Eharmony has really picked up now compared to 5 years ago when I tried them. And the candidates are very good. The ones in the trash are there from statements in their profile - like loves to dance til dawn - or their picture - or the distance from here - more than an hour away.

One guy in the trash was an IT director for a huge accounting firm - and cute. We got along well in the emails but then I realized he lives almost an hour and a half from here, works an hour farther away through heavy traffic and travels so much to 20 different places that he cannot keep a dog - so - I said - that is not going to work and I am not going to put myself through the stress of that situation. So I closed him. That is what I love - I am in charge!! LOL!!

Yes- there is nothing like the sound of a dog about to throw up - and the thought of where they could be in the house at that moment. I have a lot of beautiful area rugs and that thought just flips me out!!

Thanks, Alison. If truth be told, I like him by far the most out of any I have met online. But I don't want to get my hopes up or jump into anything too soon. Not that we are going to do that from our time constraints. But am keeping fingers crossed and eyes open and expectations in order.....

Okay - one fun thing about being online is getting up first thing to see if anyone wrote! LOL!!

And this one is most hilarious - he is an attorney (although NOT the funny one with the witness protection program comment) and he fills out the questionaire like a typical attorney - writing "other" in the place where you are allowed to fill in your own answer instead of checking off the canned answers. I put a ***** next to his answer so you can see what I mean:

1. If you decided to stay at home for the evening would you tend to:
A) watch TV
B) clean
C) talk on the phone
D) read
****E) computer, DVD, TIVO, other (when appropriate)

2. Your idea of adventure is:
A) whitewater rafting
B) karaoke singing
C) trying a different route to work
D) ordering a dish you've never tried before
****E) Not one of the choices listed

3. What kind of exercise do you prefer?
A) walking
B) running
C) gym-workout
D) extreme sports
****E) other

4.If you could take a dream getaway, where would you most likely choose to spend a week?
A) Paris
B) Hawaii
C) hiking in the mountains
D) a cottage by the sea
****E) Hawaii of the list included but the Carribean is so much closer

5.Would you rather date someone who is:
A) very busy, with a sometimes chaotic schedule, who books time with you in advance
B) busy, with a structured schedule, you know what days the person will be available for fun
C) slightly busy, who works during the day and is available most nights
D) not busy and has lots of free time
****E) Someone who is OK with her schedule, whatever it is

So, he is probably going in the trash for this and for his picture - I was iffy. Plus I don't like his set of questions.

But it did give us a laugh!

Seeeeee, I got you thinking about Tucson when you had your first 3 prospects and now you get to use your personal knowledge of weird Tucson facts! Hah! Anyway, bring your snowshoes, Mt. Lemmon just got more snow yesterday. I don't think we've had enough for the ski area to be open this season though. D3 got air lifted out of Sabino Canyon during the holidays. Psychoboy took her, OW and OW's kids hiking and there was rain up in the Catalinas so flash flooding in Sabino. Of course, I heard this from D3 after she came home, Psychoboy didn't seem to think I needed to know about her helicopter ride. Mt. Everest should appreciate the wildness of the place, which seems so civilized on the surface.
