had that outburst a couple weeks ago--I think I mentioned it here--he had been in a fight with another kid and when sent to the office he asked the receptionist if she had a gun so he could shoot himself.

I would want a second opinion and would feel exactly the same way you do - don't be stuck with a label if it is not warranted.
I do think his statement to the school receptionist is sort of scary - so not to be taken lightly considering all the news stories about that subject. Did you try to find out where he got that notion? Has he had any other troubles?
I was thinking maybe you can take him to the same play therapist - for a few times - maybe your exh would split that with you? It seems like you should have been able to go - they have to do better with the time next time or maybe you can get off work for that somehow?
How did you happen to find this psychologist?
April,
I don't really have any advice.
I can try to get time off but it is hard--I am the only person in the office who does what I do, me taking time off means the Doctors can't see patients so that they can answer phones, dispense glasses and attempt to help people who come in...really my being gone never works out!

questions- was dad in room with son?, will dr speak to you? remember there are privacy laws for patients. 1st psch son visited would not summarize son's issues for me. son was making statements about violence at home. we found another one who speaks to us (incl xh). its enlightening to see son's side of
It sounds like his Dad and step-mom were in the room with him but they were only spoken to if DS couldn't answer a question--otherwise they were just there.

Because insurance is in his name DS's Dad did all the calling around.

I totally agree with you on the med and diagnosis thing.
