Wow! That is pretty huge! In all honesty, I really have to think about what to say regarding that one. I'm stumped because I guess, I know all the wonderful qualities and you both seem so perfect, but you are right. Where do you draw the line. I know this topic has been on the board in the past when Judy was dating someone who drank excessively, but this is a little more serious because of the extent of time you both have been together and the entire moving forward in the relationship.

Thanks, Shrimps-

I know it's just a day. Sometimes I set myself up-- high expectations (oooh that E word again) and then things come crashing down. Happened on our one year anniversary, too.

On a lighter note-

UGH they are the worst! I hate having unresolved issues with SO upon going to bed which is why I try hard to get some reslove before sleep. Needless to say I've got the "no-good-sleep" bags under my eyes today.

And thanks for the Hugs :o)

I agree with everything you write and what you are doing - even though I know it is not the easy thing to do - but you are right to say you don't want to move in as long as drinking is an issue for you. I totally understand. Because once you move in, you have no more leverage except to do something really difficult and rash.

It seems that if you are no hurry to move in or get married then he can have all the time he wants to deal with his drinking. So, no rush.

Hugs and a special Valentine wish for you, Pacific!! You are always so sunny on our board - I hate to see you "unsunny"!!

Thank you for your words, they are very kind!

I agree with what you have just said- why rush him (who can do that anyway) ...I am needing to be un-married for longer still, and I am firm about not moving in under current circumstances. It feels good to have that boundary :o)

You post made me smile

You brought up an issue that overlays some of the relationships I have had and currently having, i.e. addiction.
