Need advice from dog lovers....

I'm really considering a dog. And want some advice on how much vet bills usually run a month? $100? I really want a dog, although I know that might cause some issues if I have to go out of town, but maybe it won't be so bad if I can get an estimate from a few of you.

Definitely a dominance thing... I have two females and they do it to eachother.
How fun!
I could see a beagle named Schnitzel. I think that name kinda fits a beagle perfectly. If you want him, I hope you get him. I don't know what I would do without my two pugs. Love from a dog is always unconditional. I tried to be without a dog and just couldn't do it.
If everything works out I will be fencing in my back yard this spring just so we can go outside without leashes and they run and play. They have given me so much I want to do something for them also. Course it will be good for me too....I can go out in the mornings WITH my cup of coffee while they do their thing.
A beagle is a good size dog if you ever find it necessary to travel with the dog. A lot of hotels that accept dogs only accept dogs under 30 lbs. And crate training is essential for trouble free travel with a dog.

What a great name!
OK...... update! Dog date today. Well, he is ADORABLE, but ladies, he's LAZY! He doesn't do fetch! A no fetch dog! :(
Dang, Cat... he's just a dog- and you only saw him for a short while! I'm sure he could LEARN to fetch if given a chance, and if that is really something you want him to do! Give him a chance!
Are you going to "next" the dog just because he isn't perfect in this one little way? If he can be active enough to run around, then I'm sure he can learn to fetch, too.
IMO- after hearing your excitement about naming the beagle, and then now- your disappointment in his "laziness"... is it really

No offense! Don't forget I am taking him Thursday thru Sunday to see how he does. The owner said he's TOTALLY worthless lazy (she said it with a laugh), but she was right; he is. All the other dogs run and play and he just looks at me, like, you have to be kidding.
And yes, it's almost a deal breaker, because what do I want to do with a dog that is lazy all the time? The reason for my girls and I to enjoy the dog
