I have never been to one. I don't even know who pays for it, etc. Can you guys help me here? Also, I need to think of some crazy things that she has to do that night. We are making a list and she has to fulfill it. Any nutty ideas or nutty things that you did or had a bride to be do? Can you ask people to dress a certain way? Like theme style of something? This is supposed to be a crazy party, so I want it to be lot's of fun. We'll be bar/disco hopping downtown. Karoake, Irish Pub, 70's disco place, Coyote Ugly, etc. etc.

Interesting: EVERYONE I know who's had the "big shebang" wedding always wishes they'd do it differently (read: small private affordable) next time (if there's a next time)

With the exception of my sister in law. But she also wants to be a wedding planner. She's really into all of that. Other than her, no one is glad they did it. Yet, those big weddings are the American dream. I wonder why? I do know it's going a little out of style in favor of destination weddings.

Our proposal more an agreement than your typical, formal, proposal. Our entire relationship to this very day has been an agreement. Constantly talking and negotiating and working things out.

I do not have any candlelit night, fancy dinner, beautiful destination, dropping to one knee, presenting me a ring story. He did drop to one knee, but it was in the bathroom while I was getting ready for work one morning and heaving my guts up with morning sickness.

LOL!

Want to know how MINE went?

We were already planning a wedding. Had a date and all. But DH STILL had not formally asked. At a company christmas party (we were both with the same company at the time) he wanted to announce it. He leaned in and quietly said to me "I guess I should ask you first. Would you?"

ROTFL!!!!

I didn't care. I'd been longing for him to make it "official" and didn't have any big proposal dreams, so it was fine with me.
