Okay, in less than two weeks, Shane and I close on our new home. I want to change some things from how we have them to a new way. Shane is very into the wrought iron and rustic look, which we incorprated into a lot of our current house. I like it too, so I'm not complaining. Our living room furniture is a rusty suede with wood and iron tables and just gorgeous! So we have very weathered looking frames on mirrors, Texas themed items that tie in, so it looks great.
But in the bedroom, I want SEXY! Right now, it's a hodgepodge of his and her's and I'm tired of it. The bed is a huge king sized mahogany stained sleigh bed and my dresser matches it. We also have side tables to match. I have a nice print and sconces I placed above the bed in a sage green color because he has a sage green comforter we use as an accent throw on the bed. The main comforter is a very heavy denim one, but it was his during his first marriage. I'm creeped out by that fact. I use lots of throws in denim and sage. It all matches well, but it's not sexy. It's just thrown together.
I want red. I know he likes rustic, so I can make that happen and still be romantic with wooden candle holders, and things to tie that in. Our main furniture is wood so it would work. Maybe a vacation cabin style look would be fun. But I do want red. Not obnoxious red. Deep red. Sexy, romantic red. Lots of soft fabrics, pretty pillows and candles.
What do you suggest?

CROSCILL, darling!!
Go on ebay and search on CROSCILL KING and you will find the most gorgeous colors for a STEAL. I have collected the whole Croscill Serena pattern - but there are many more in red.

I think the quality and colors for that manufacturer are second to none.
Also, now that the holidays are here you can find a lot of neat things in red that can go for all season. I just bought the neatest cranberry topiary tree for my bathroom and it doesn't look xmassy.
Good luck!!
Sounds like the furniture will tie in with red and sexy well. Sexy....go get yards and yards of shear red material and some wrought iron round bathroom towel holders (Target has em) and anchor them to the ceiling above the bed's four corners and drape the fabic through, tying loose knots around the rings to keep them in place - or you can tie them in place so they don't slide with wide satin ribbon in a deeper red or even purple.
To add some rustic to that you can use grapevine wreaths loaded upu with red berries with a gold sheen to them - because of Christmas this is a great time to find them, and maybe throw in some gold cherubs for the cupid feel.
You could use the same treatment around a dresser mirror. Wrought iron candle sticks would work and tie into the rest of the house.
Biggest thing - paint the room red. I know that sounds scarey but I haven't seen a red room yet I didn't like! I would paint the trim an ivory color then and the ceiling an ivory or light gold tone.
Go buy some new bedding!! If you are on a tight budget there is a really nice bed-in-a-bag at Kmart that is Martha Stewart that is romantic and would even tie into a sage throw

Add some nice throw pillows in cool satiny fabics (check out Walmart right now - seriously!) and you have it. If budget isn't a problem I love the Velvet duvets form Pottery barn - talk about sexy :)
Personally I find crisp white sheets the sexiest - under all that dark red :) HTH
