Okay - now I need everyone's opinion and advice.

DS just said that he and his dad were to go to a school party last night. His dad's girlfriend (first time meeting her) came over with her 6yo DS. His dad told DS that he had to play with that boy and entertain him. My DS did not like that little boy - says he is the biggest annoying pain - doesn't play well and talks too much. I said that he is young - is he like one of the little boys on our street that no one likes because his mom always leaves him outside and he has no manners? And he said no he is much worse.

Okay - so what do I tell DS?

I am annoyed because my ex always put how he looks in front of other people before his family and this is a classic case. I was thinking of giving my son a cell phone and telling him that if he is not having fun he can come here.

What do we do? All opinions welcome!!

BTW - we now have a 7 week old puppy here with us!! He arrived on the plane last night at 2AM which is sort of a comedy of errors - he was supposed to be in at noon yesterday and I was thinking it was noon today. For some reason I fell asleep with my clothes on and when the lady called from the airport I was able to shoot out of bed and get there in 20 minutes and bring him home. It is like having an infant all over again - no sleep - but for some reason I don't mind!! LOL!! :-)

Thanks you guys - okay - I have told him he needs to set a boundary with his dad - that he does not have to babysit his date's child at a party that is supposed to be for him. He has to put his foot down as he does on other topics. And he agreed - so will see what happens and I will keep you posted on this matter.
