Ok,so I am new here.Actually I am new to ALL of this. After finding myself divorced and back into this world that I feel like a alien in sometimes I feel so lost.I have started over with my 4 year old son and find myself thinking that maybe its time I start dating again.Im not sure I want to get serious as it makes me feel frantic thinking about it all but I started feeling after my mother made the suggestion that it wouldnt be wrong to just start as she put it, "getting out there!"I work at a Army facility as a nurse and meet many men but nothing suitable for really dating as I am helping send them off to war! The trouble with this is....and what a kicker...I am very outgoing, the life of the party etc..just a eccentric soul that loves to laugh...BUT...when it comes to getting around men that I am attracted to or would find myself interested in....I TOTALLY become shy and clam up.Its very embarressing! I know my self esteem has suffered dramatically.I know I am moderately attractive I do get stares and hit on alot..but when it comes to the,"real" thing..I freeze up.I know some of this probably stems from some emotional abuse I suffered from at the hands of my ex

I clam up around guys too--on my online profiles I always mark "shy at first but warms up quickly"--honestly it's not just men--my 2 best friends tell me that they both thought I was a cold fish when they met me--one even told me I scared her (I was her boss at the time)!!

Hi Alainia-

I am new too....about a week or so...but these ladies (and Mark) are so supportive. You can ask what you feel is the dumbest question and everyone is so honest and open...its fantastic.

I've been divorced two years and have been in a relationship just about the same amount of time. You sound like a fantastic woman with lots to offer. Just put yourself out there. Look to places where you are comfortable. Aren't there any cute Army doctors?

Anyone thinking of McDreamy in some army fitigues?

:)

Omg I know the greatest guy who is clinically retarded and needs help going to the bathroom but he is SO SWEET! ;)

Just kidding.

It's tough. I think the older guys just get some credit for being far more responsible than the people we were leaving. Having said that, my best and MOST independent girlfriend is now serious about a guy that is 5 yrs younger. It really depends on the person. He is great, and I can see why she loves him. He complements her. The person I'm with is 17 yrs older and we complement eachother very well. It's more about the person than the age I think.
