Hi all,

Got a reply from someone I emailed yesterday... we have a lot of the same interests. He's 35 yrs... says he's a yak trainer.. and I have no idea what that is so that's what i asked in my email.. What's a yak trainer? He didn't tell me, yet, but in his reply he asked about a couple of my pictures. We'll see how it goes....

I think it's cool if I get dates from online since I finally paid for the full membership. So far, I've noticed that emails are more effective than winks to get a response.

YakTrainer is younger than the last guy, Brad. And the picture is clearer.... yikes but ya can't tell much from a picture...Another thing... is that at karaoke i tend to meet younger guys all the time.... at least online i can meet guys my own age or older....

YEAH - do keep us posted about yak trainer. I wonder what he really does?

"ya can't tell much from a picture" - SO SO TRUE! you have to talk to them and go out with them and let time tell. We have no control over the chemistry attraction thing so to speak - if a guy doesn't turn you on there is not much you can do to change that. You just have to see how you interact.

I am so glad that you signed up! Can't wait to hear your stories!!

I just googled it - and it appears that a yak could be the animal like an ox - which maybe he is playing around and being silly with what he does - or it can be a military airplane - maybe he is a pilot or teaches them?

You must let us know what this is!!

I just made some updates to my profile... (since before it was pretty much blank).... but i haven't heard back from YakTrainer... and since Yak is a military term, I'm betting that's the connection.... i'll let you know for sure if i find out.

Uh oh... got a reply from YakTrainer but he only said...

"btw?"

I guess he didn't understand what that stood for....oops. I don't have email access at home, yet, so I guess he'll have to wait til tomorrow for me to reply and clarify... but I'm not sure i'm getting a vibe that he's really interested.... :(

What really is the right time frame for emails... some articles say wait a day before replying others say reply quickly... which is it??

Soonee once told me that I should date 3 at once. And this is the best advice I got. Because usually I focus on one way too soon. And I think the reason I was able to do this is because I was away and only had email access once a day. And could not call or see any of them for a week because I was away. So I ended up getting a lot of prospects to consider and talk to on the phone and then narrowed it down to 3 to date because I stretched out the correspondence. And then picked lifeguard because he was the most positive and sweet and into me and has the same interests. But it took time to see all of this.

I try to match length of message - meaning I don't write 3 pages if they only write 2 sentences and I try to match frequency. I also try to ask one question. Many are not good at typing or email so you have to keep that in mind. I have dated guys that write epic emails and ones that write one liners. There is no rhyme or reason. Lifeguard wrote the nicest letter each time and he always answered each day - but this is because we both had a lot to write about. He had noticed the type of wheels and helmet I was wearing and commented I was serious about my tris - and then he asked about the bike computer - and we just went back and forth with so much to say.

I think the purpose of the email is to see if you have common interests and like each other's profile and then you should move to the phone as quick as you can. Because you have to hear their voice and see them in person. You don't want to start making your imagination go wild with the emails. When I feel comfortable I give them my number. If they give me their number I give them mine in return.

Keep us posted. Maybe you can think of something cute to write back for btw? I am usually clever with such things but right now my mind is brain dead from swimming and biking so much today in the heat.
