If he had to ask you that question he is indeed more stupid than we ever give him credit.

My ex tried this-after being gone for 7 months. I told him it is not my kids responsibiities to contact him. We've had no telephone number for him, yet ours have remained the same. I told him if he wanted to talk to the kids, he knows our number.

You answered him perfectly though...

my ex. pulledthis same thing after 2 yr absent except he went bit further he had giving me 200 doolars and aked to see his daughter and i told him right then and there no i had to endure many a nights of no sleep with her crying where is my daddy why don't he love me anymore..so i also told him you can start by giving her a phone call weekely so i can make sure he don't run again well what do ya know no more cs no phone call nothing except hearing he had another child..and he left mine like a hot potato. it has been 5 yrs she has not seen him...

That is so slimy to leave it to the kid to track down his own father. UGH!! Your ex was trying to put the responsibility of continued contact on your son. How horrible!

If your ex doesn't call, then it's his own fault.

You responded well. What is he thinking, expecting a kid to track him down?!

I hope he calls regularly for nicolas' sake, but I'm not holding my breath.
